Topic: Multiple choice assessments

What is the author's main point? The main point of this source is how assessments discriminate against different cultures and minority groups and also how assessments are historic.

What does the author say? The author talks about how assessments need to be updated in order to understand a student’s growing knowledge.

What do I think? I think this source will help me to evaluate bias that certain assessments may have against different cultures.  It will also help me to understand assessments in the past as opposed to current day.

Interpretation of the Article

Topic: Accuracy and effectiveness of educational assessments

What is the author's main point? The main point of this article is to help the reader understand the various uses of assessments in an educational environment.

What does the author say? The author talks about grading accuracy and the effectiveness that performance assessment have on determining a student’s knowledge and learning abilities.

What do I think? This article is a good source in determining the negatives of assessments in the classroom.  It will help me understand overall how the method of estimating the magnitude of accuracy is developed.
