Phi Sigma Pi is a coeducational national honor organization, which promotes the advancement of humanity through the application of knowledge and noble service, while fostering a spirit of fraternal unity. The Phi Sigma Pi National Honor Fraternity strives to empower every member to: Discover Your Potential. Learn. Inspire. Lead.

Phi Sigma Pi was founded on a tripod of Scholarship, Leadership, and Fellowship. Each chapter takes pride in promoting the ideals of the tripod in everything that they do.

Undergraduate chapters are the most dynamic unit of Phi Sigma Pi. Chapters have many options for activities which promote scholarship, through conferences, seminars and workshops, as well as tutoring and developing local scholarships and awards. Phi Sigma Pi encourages members to offer themselves as resources for service projects to create a better understanding about the problems facing today’s society and empowering each member to develop leadership skills. Finally, working closely with others toward common goals builds fellowship, the third principal of Phi Sigma Pi.

HISTORY

Phi Sigma Pi was founded at Central Missouri State University on February 14, 1916, by E.L. Hendricks, C.A. Phillips, and C.H. McClure. The Fraternity became national in 1921 when a second chapter was founded at Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois. The National Fraternity has since evolved from an honorary professional fraternity to a professional education fraternity, and then, in 1966, to an honor fraternity for all disciplines. Phi Sigma Pi became coeducational in 1977.

Currently, there are chapters chartered throughout the Mid-West and East Coast. Today, over 20,000 students, alumni and faculty in ninety-four (94) institutions nationwide have met the standards for membership in Phi Sigma Pi.

About Gamma Pi

The Gamma Pi chapter of Phi Sigma Pi was founded on March 18, 1997 on the Towson University campus. Sharon D. Lily Adedeji from the Alpha Beta chapter at University of Maryland, College Park, was Gamma Pi’s founding brother. We celebrate our founder’s day every Spring.

Gamma Pi leads and participates in many events throughout the semester including service, educational, and social events. These events are what separates up from other organizations on campus. We strive to meet all aspects of our tripod... Scholarship, Leadership, and Fellowship.

Our chapter Philanthropy is Lupus, each Fall semester, Gamma Pi holds a service concert to raise money for the Lupus foundation. This is event is called Band Together For Lupus.  Band Together for Lupus is a free concert that all are welcomed to enjoy and donations are always accepted throughout the show.
