This paper is about the influence of No Child Left Behind on testing and special education. Although the idea of this government act was to help all children achieve in school and strive further in their academic life, many children are actually falling behind because testing does not show adequacy, and children with disabilities are left with generally the same issues because they are not completely addressed within the law. Annual testing does not help children because once they get left behind, having the teachers take the time to teach for the test and not what they really need help on is actually putting the children in a worse situation. Children with disabilities are required to be tested as much, or maybe even more often, than normal students, when the time spent preparing these students for that test could have been used to help them learn English better or to work on other issues that the child may be having.
