Emerging Technologies

With the huge increase in technologies available today, it is only a matter of time before it moves into the school system.  This process is slow, but does create a huge positive impact to students.  One problem with incorporating technology into schools is cost.  New technology is extremely expensive.  It is also usually contains a few unknown flows.  Once a new technology is around for sometime, it tends to move into schools.

A Few Types of Technology...

Networking Technologies

Types of networking technologies include anything wireless, Ethernet, and DSL.  This type of technology is very prevalent in schools.  In order for schools to include internet on their many computers, wireless internet becomes very important and helpful.

Visualization Software

Visualization software can include a virtual library, or virtual field trips.  Both of these are extremely beneficial to schools.  Students can search through books and book availability on a computer.  This is a great way of integrating technology into schools.

Interfaces

A couple examples of interfaces are adaptive devices and scanners.  These can be very helpful tools for a school because it allows teacher and students to use computers in ways that would not be otherwise possible.

Handheld/Wireless Systems

A few examples of handheld and wireless systems are PDAs, cell phones, PSPs, and handheld email.  These could all be handy communication tools for any school and classroom.
