Educational Web Resources American Historical Association As a History Teacher, this site would be especially useful because it is geared for historians with a special section dedicated for teachers. America’s Story from America’s Library http://www.americaslibrary.gov/cgi-bin/page.cgi This site offers a look at history for younger children that is easy to navigate through. Digital History http://www.digitalhistory.uh.edu/ This is a great site because it is designed with a technologically-advanced classroom in mind. It is created to be an interactive multimedia tool from the Revolutionary War to present day. History http://www.pbs.org/history/history_united.html This site lists American History topics for easy navigation and offers short videos, photos and timelines of each event. The site also highlights other useful websites. infoUSA http://usinfo.state.gov/usa/infousa/facts/facts.htm This is a great site because it provides a brief and simple overview of United States History. It would be helpful when looking for general US History information. Kidport Reference Library http://www.kidport.com/RefLib/UsaHistory/UsaHistoryIndex.htm This site offers a timeline of important events in US History. The event name and picture are on the timeline which helps to make the timeline easy to navigate. U.S. Department of Education http://www.ed.gov/programs/teachinghistory/index.html This is a website from the US Department of Education that provides teachers with the Program Description for teaching history in public schools. ushistory.org This site offers a bright and exciting look at American history. The White House The White House homepage is a great plethora of information about current events coming from the most famous house in the world. |
