Description: This is a unit on outer space that can cover multiple art elements and principles of design. The reason I enjoy this unit so much is because it is interdisiplinary and can be tailored to almost any grade level. Students learn about atmospheric perspective and value in my unit. Students also learn about solar systems, planets, space dust, and how to use a compass.

UNIT PLAN 2: ABORIGINAL DOT PAINTINGS
GRADE 2

Description: This unit teaches students about the Aborigine people of Australia and some of their beliefs. The students create a dot painting of an Australian animal of their choice. Students learn about several animals native to Australia. Students learn about the art elements of color, line, shape, and pattern.

UNIT PLAN 3: KINETIC SCULPTURE CARS
GRADE 6
5 Week Unit

Description: Students learn about the Baltimore Kinetic Scuplture Race and build thier own cars using found objects and paper mache. Students use plastic bottles for the base and create a car using a theme of their choice. The last day is spent racing the cars for fun. Students learn about movement, form, shape, and color. This unit ties in recycling materials and redefines what students believe can be used to create art.
