THE FUTURE OF INFORMATION IN EDUCATION

Danielle Scott
The future of Information in Education

1.)

http://www.ed.gov/Technology/Futures/toc.html

The first article that I read was titled "Digital technology and it's impact on education".
This article basically discussed that there are no ways for a teacher to get around using
the computer. It stated that now a days everything is so much easier to do on the computer
that it is necessary for the use of it. It talks about how teachers can use the computer
in various ways, sending emails to parents, assigning homework over the internet as well.
This article shows that information on the web will grow to the point where teachers will
defiantly have to use the web. It also stated that they offer teachers a course to take to
that will help teachers understand the computer. This web site would be useful to teachers
that don't know anything about computers, so that this would encourage them to take a course
and find out about different things the computer and web is good for.

The second article was placed as an question "What issues in technology will help shape the
next millennium?" This article talks about how the student should create a plan for himself
or herself learning. It also states that the author had set goals that technology would
reach with teachers, parents and students. That teachers would be using technology
and technology would help create a easier way for parents to stay or become involved.
The author also shares that Educational Technology in the next Century can become far more
attainable than before. Examples are accessible databases, electronic learning communities,
and peer reviewed portfolios on the web. These are things that this author thinks will
be predominant in the future and I would agree, because the peer reviewed portfolios are
in use now as we speak in our technology class. This website is good if you are looking
for the view of technology in the future.

This article basically takes a look at old things such as automobiles, plans, education and
tells what it was like back then and then tells what it is like now. It shows how in 1981
there were about 200 computers hosted web servers. Then in 1998 there were over 36
million web servers. It also gives information about how many people use the internet, which
is over 150 million. This web site would be good for using if you were doing a research
paper on how technology has changed over the years. It also gives you information about how
the web has already reinvented itself twice. It also states that in the future all
intelligent devices will be wireless. This website seems very accurate and provides tones
of information.
