DESKTOP SHARING REVOLUTIONIZES THE WORKING COMMUNITY

Growing in leaps and bounds the internet world has really taken off. It is amazing that you can run your entire business right from your computer. No one ever even has to know that you are sitting around in your pajamas working in your messy bedroom or living room. I mean you can purchase items online, sell items online, take an online meeting or use a multiparty video conference to get the jog done. Granted if you are on a video conference then you best get yourself and the room you are in together, because with the latest technology you can see everything. It is just an incredible world, where you can use online translation services to communicate with other people all around the world, in their own native language, and without having to learn a word of it yourself. You can even pay to have business documents and legal documents translated into other languages for consist and accurate translation. This makes not only domestic business, but also international business easier than ever before.

It seems that now more and more people are looking to start their own businesses from home, and why not. With flexible scheduling and helpful things like desktop sharing that allow you to access your computer while away from your desk, you can actually be working while at the pool in the summer or on a ski vacation in the winter. People are saying that our economy is in trouble, but I truly believe that the high tech sector will be secure in their endeavors. As time goes on, it becomes increasingly evident that the world now revolves around those of us who have the technology and know how to use it.

Instead of sitting around waiting for business opportunities to come to you, you need to grab the bull by the horns and start making your own opportunities, and the best way to do it is to get yourself up to speed with all the latest technology available. Doing this will open up a world of options to you, literally.

Promotions on TV

I am constantly seeing commercials and ads on TV for schools. They aren't the typical commercials either. They are advertising computer training from your home (which is different than the usual university ads). But since I am currently a college student (full-time at a university) I really haven't paid much attention to them before.

I was watching one though today and it was all about (and focused towards) people who have either not gone to college at all or they dropped out for some reason (usually a financial or family situation). But they really emphasized their schools CBT (computer based training) program. They talked about how many credited courses they offer that you can take from your own home on your computer.

There are several upsides (at least according to the commercial) to using CBT to get your degree. If you are currently employed (you are either getting the degree to get a new or better job or you are trying to advance in your current job like using it to get you're a+ certification) you are able to take the classes after your work your regular job on your own time.

Also, you don't have to spend the time or the money getting to and from a school or university. You can spend that commuting time with your family, at your current job, relaxing or even studying for your CBT course.

You can even get financial help in a lot of cases with CBT courses. People think that just because they are older and either didn't go right away or they dropped out, that they can't go back and do something about it.

Another common worry is that you are all on your own when you take a computer training course. This isn't true at all. You have so many resources including the company or school that it is through.

But this commercial definitely made it clear that people can go back to school (at their convenience) in an affordable fashion and also spend time with their families and continue on with their jobs and learn in the comfort of their own home (and use their resources as well). It is important to know that you always have options. Thankfully with the technology that we have now, we are able to do so many things that weren't available even ten years ago and we need to definitely be taking advantage of them.

Summer Learning

Summer is fast approaching as I am sure many of your have already realized. We have been having those random days where it will be completely beautiful but just a few degrees too cold. Before you know it we will all be wishing it were like this because we'll be baking inside our cars and frying in the sun. I am looking foreword to it anyway though.

I am one of the lucky few that don't get a summer vacation. That would make life much too easy for me. No I have more than a full schedule for the summer and it is going to test my will and my strength I think to stay inside all summer long in classes and then to go outside only to be strapped down to my notebooks and laptop to get homework done.

Since I have this great opportunity I have also been given a work study job for the summer at a local school. I will be doing my experiential hours for education in a middle school teaching English as a Second Language to foreign students who are in high school. I think that it is going to be a whole lot of fun because they have put me in charge of thinking about the lessons regarding technology and I am a huge proponent of e-learning. I am actually doing a technology minor so I will be able to use that within the context of my career later. I have been doing correspondence lessons through the enterprise learning library and hope to get my a+ certification sometime before I graduate. It may sound like a lot of work to many of you who feel overwhelmed by your current course load, but I am personally very excited to be able to have this opportunity. My belief is that college is the time for honing in on what really matter for you in life as well as in your future career goals. Because of this belief I have devoted myself fully to my education and my professional development as a teacher. This I do with the intention of being the best I can be for my students who will be the final judge on my performance in the things they do after leaving my classroom.

BEST WRINKLE CREAM REGARDLESS OF YOUR AGE

These days, it may seem vain but now more than ever looks do matter. You may not think that they do, but then in all fairness you are not looking at yourself. As we age, it becomes more and more difficult to hide our age and make ourselves appear younger. And with the job market expanding, older applicants need to look younger, or frankly they probably won't get the job over their younger, more energetic counterparts. This is just the reality and that is why I have been reading more about looking younger, including the one article I read which was a wrinkle cream review. Honestly, after reading the article, I decided to go out and purchase the best wrinkle cream off the list, and it really worked well. In the past I had always just tried to cover up my bad skin and wrinkles with a good foundation, but had always found that foundation did even out my skin tone, but it doesn't work well to hide wrinkles. And it seems like everyday, more of them appear. No, I am not eighty, but I can already see new lines forming on my face, and it really does change your opinion.

Now, you may think that wrinkle cream is just for the old, but it also works really well to hide other lines that show up on your face and these start to show up around your mid twenties. At first they are hardly noticeable, but then they seem to become more noticeable over time.

I just think that it is important to look your best no matter what your age, and when you are heading into the job market or returning to school, then you really need to look as young as possible without overdoing it. I think that it is really important to keep the playing field level. Being young doesn't last forever, but by using the right skin care products, wrinkle cream and make up, you will be the only one who has to know your real age. There is nothing wrong with looking younger while still having the benefit of your years of wisdom and experience, this is actually the best of both worlds especially to potential employers.

Building a House and a Home

A friend of mine is getting married in the summer and her and her fiancé are also building a home! It's really exciting but I also think that it is extremely stressful for her to be planning a wedding, starting a new job (yay for her!) and worrying about building the house and when it will be ready and decorating it and making it a home.

She does have a wedding planner (and her crazy mom) to help her. But I think the fact that she just graduated a year ago and got engaged and is now starting her dream job is a little overwhelming. I can't imagine what it would be like to be on your own, go to class at random times and hang out with your friends and then be thrown into a 8-5 job an hour away and be engaged with responsibilities (that clearly come with perks) but still it can be stressful and exciting in an exhausting way I can imagine. Thankfully though she is using Schumacher homes to do her house. She told me and almost everyone else I know that Schumacher homes has been so great and helpful and really been straight up with her about everything including reality with the building and pricing (which is something that you don't hear very often with home building and estimates). So it really is a relief to her that she can just tell them what she likes and wants and they are open and honest with her about how the whole process works and is going (and she said she even hangs out with the guys and that they're really nice and friendly).

I think her favorite part about the house is that she gets to start all new with decorating (as opposed to buying a home from someone else) and make everything her own. They are buying all new furniture and framing black and white pictures of them, family and friends for the living room and hallways which is so cool.

Hearing her talk about the whole process is really cool. It kind of makes me excited to grow up (even though I'm really in no hurry ha). But just to hear that it isn't just bad after graduation and people don't always miss the going out every night and drinking and having little responsibility and that being a grownup can be fun too.

Planning A wedding

One of my best friends from college is getting married this summer! On one hand it really scares me because she is only 3 years older than me and she totally has her life together and she is obviously at that stage where she is ready to get married (or at least I would hope so since she is ha). But I am a junior and still have so much time left in school (my major is pharmacy) and I definitely don't think I will be ready to get married in the next few years (even like ten years) ha. Even if I found the right guy I want to do so many things on my own first. So I definitely envy Claire.

On the other hand though, I get to help with wedding stuff so it's so much fun! She is having Ghirardelli chocolate as her wedding candy for the favors which is super cute because the candy comes in these little Tiffany blue boxes with a ribbon around it to match her colors.

I also got to help plan the bachelorette party (my favorite part) and the bridal shower (not so fun ha). The bachelorette party is going to have a ton of cool favors (sort of naughty ha) and we are going downtown to the bars and got a suite for 2 nights (that's right, 2 nights). I think when I get married I'm going to skip the bridal shower, it seems boring to me for some reason. But I do know for sure when I get married I will definitely have an open bar (I think if I had to chose between and open bar and a GROOM I would chose the open bar ha-ha).

But overall helping with the wedding was such a fun experience. By us helping, Claire was less stressed out and when we tried on our bridesmaid dresses we had such a great time. We got to see her wedding dress and had mimosas and just relaxed because the wedding is so close and basically everything is taken care of already except for tiny details.

I do however think that as much fun as this was, I want to have a wedding planner when I get married. I know that sounds snotty, but I definitely don't think I could see the big picture and put it all together myself.

Internships

It's that time of the year for juniors in college! My friends and I are all either looking for internships for the summer or have just found out that we got one. It is such a stressful time because this is really the only time that we have for internships if we want to get jobs right out of school after we graduate, so we have been applying like crazy and going on all of these interviews and being stressed out while still having all of our homework to deal with.

I think it is hard because a lot of us are looking for medical jobs or something in that field after we graduate, like pharmacy or optometry and it is hard to find an internship or a job before you graduate without any experience. It is hard to get experience though if you need it to get a job in the first place, it really is frustrating.

I was also surprised to see how much effort they put into things like background checks and drug testing. I felt like I was interviewing for the FBI when I interviewed for a position at a nursing homes pharmacy clinic. I can defiantly see why they take these precautions, you can never be too careful and I don't have anything to worry about, I passed both, but it is an eye opener as to how people view the world now and how they need to be so careful.

Thankfully though I just got an internship doing something that I want to do in the future which is really exciting (and I relief for my dad I think ha) but I can't wait for the summer to start. It will be weird though having to work every day from 9am to 5pm like a real adult. I am so used to getting up at random times and working at the computer lab between classes and making my own schedule. And if I didn't want to or couldn't work I could just call someone to fill in for me or tell my boss and she would clear it. This summer will defiantly be something new for me, but also something exciting (and maybe a little bit scary) but I definitely can't wait to get up in the morning and put on my white lab coat and go to work!!

Oscommerce

To be honest, before I saw the words oscommerce hosting in the Google search results when looking something else up, I had no idea what it meant and I had never seen them before. So I was curious to learn what oscommerce was and I looked it up online (I am definitely terrible at computers but I have gotten really great with googling info! Ha)

Oscommerce hosting allows people and businesses to create both small and large ecommerce websites. There is even a website with the top sites on it. The website is great because all on one site you can compare ten different hosts as well as their prices, web space, traffic, domain name, and even read reviews from other people that have used or visited. On this particular website most of the reviews are great ones because they only have the top ten sites listed. But when you go to other sites you can find people negatively reviewing them which is good because you can get honesty about the product that not all companies will give you before you put your time and maybe money into it.

My favorite part though when I was looking into the oscommerce hosts was the part with the templates. There are websites full of oscommerce templates that people can use for their businesses or companies website. Some of them are really plain and more businesslike and appropriate and others are fun and colorful. They serve for a large number of clients and some are even custom made like ones for computer companies or jewelry stores. It is interesting to see how the templates that are given on the website for certain things like jewelry really do look like a lot of the websites that jewelry stores have.

Overall though these websites can help you research into different hosts and templates and decide which the best is for you and your companies and which fits your needs the best. You need to decide what your company is looking for in a website (serious, playful, funny, and professional) and then go from there. But thankfully we live in a day and age where you can do basically everything online with just a couple of clicks with the mouse so it shouldn't be too hard and after seeing all of the cool templates it kind of sounds like a little bit of fun too!

HARLEY GETS NEW DANCEWARE

My sister just lost her job and doesn't have much of a savings to fall back on, so obviously she is watching every dime that she spends. I took my niece Harley while my sister went on a job interview last week, and she showed me her danceware. She had the cutest little outfit, but I could tell she had it for a while and it was beginning to look a little worn and tattered. I decided that since I had just got back my tax refund that I would take her to the store and get her some new danceware and some custom ballet shoes. Well, after we had her measurements done, we found some incredible items that were half off and so we picked up some incredible dance outfits and shoes. After that we decided to go to McDonalds for lunch, which was a lot of fun.

I don't have any children of my own, but having Harley in my life is a wonderful way to enjoy having kids without actually having them. A few people actually thought I was her mom, but that's okay with me. After all, she is a great little kid and we have such fun together. Having kids can be really expensive, so I think that it will be a while before I have any of my own, but I am so enjoying watching Harley grow up. She will be having a recital in just a few weeks, and I am really looking forward to it. I am actually working on a scrap book for her, that I will give to her when she is older, that documents most of the big events in her life.

When we got home, Harley put on a fashion show for her mom, and my sis was thrilled. She thanked me over and over again, which I assured her was not necessary. And the best news of all, she said that the interview went really well, and although she will have to wait to hear back from them, she thinks that she got the job and it actually will pay her more than her old one. I know that will really help them out.

Getting online training

As a college student I guess you could say I have a spirit of someone of another generation. I look around me every day on campus and the things I see people doing much of the time seems to go against the whole purpose of us being here. The attitude that people often bring to class makes me feel like an outsider because I think that if is important to have fun but the main purpose of us all being here gathered together is to grow and become professionals and responsible adults for the next generation of this country to be a better place. Unfortunately I don't think most other students either feel this way or ever even consider their behavior to be an area where they need to grow. Instead they think that academics is everything, when in reality that is just not true.

That having been said, I want to also say that I have thought about this a lot because I am going to become an educator. Even among people in my education classes, I am one of the few people who reads reports from the U.S. Dept. of Education. I guess I am just of the mindset that I must make the best of this experience, and every experience for that matter, and in doing so I will come out of the other end with skills needed to handle my own classroom. A big part of what I am trying to do with my spare time is to get some independent online training. Online computer training is super important for anyone going on to something professional in the future, but for teachers it is quite important as a tool within the developing educational atmosphere. The Growth of e-learning in today's classroom is such a big deal that many of my professors feel that it is just as important to understand your subject areas as it is to understand how to use technology properly. By the time my own future students reach their professional careers their training with technology may be the most important skill they learn before going to college. Elearning is something that is undeniably part of the future for us as educators and we must make ourselves prepared to teach in that world.

Technology

I was watching a documentary on TV about the history of marketing and advertising. It was interesting to see (like when they actually had war ads) all of the ways they advertised before they had all of the media that they have now.

Today we are so used to getting mobile marketing sent right to our phones. Or we go online and we print off coupons to bring in to the stores or open our email to a ton of ads. I feel like the mobile marketing association really has us down. I probably check my email about fifteen times a day (at least) and I have my phone on me all day everyday and even when I sleep I turn it up to make sure if someone calls or text messages me that I can hear it and wake up. So it is no surprise that mobile advertising is on the rise right now.

I read on this website called www.advancedtele.com that there is even text message dating that people are involved in. It is so scary to think how much people depend on their phones now. I remember at a family party last year my grandpa was telling my sister and me about this time right after he got his license when he was 16 when the car broke down. The first thing I said was, how long did it take your dad to get there when you called him and my grandpa just looked at me and my dad and they both laughed at me. It is weird to think that they dealt with all of their problems without a cell phone. When my tire goes flat I immediately call my dad and I would seriously have no idea what to do if I couldn't (but I guess that is just the day and age that we are in right now).

We use our phones to look up directions or to find phone numbers to places or even to check movie times. It is sad, but true that if I didn't have my phone for more than a day or two (and this goes for almost everyone I know, including my parents and maybe even my grandparents now) I don't think I would feel safe. I use it so much that I wouldn't know what to do if I didn't have it with me. I guess it does make sense that companies are using phones for advertising, people use them more than they read or watch TV now!

AN ONLINE DEGREE PROGRAM WILL SOLVE ALL MY PROBLEMS

Working and going to school has really been taking too much out of me lately. I talked it over with a friend of mine and had considered going back to a community college near my home in the fall. It would greatly cut back on my expenses and mean that I could fit a little bit of fun in between work and school. This would be really nice, but I hated the idea of leaving all my friends here. I finally got settled in and met a nice group of people here. I met a guy and my best friend and I were fixing to move in together next semester. Everything seemed to be on a good path, but money kept getting tighter, so I picked up a few more hours and then a few more, and when a girl at the bar quit, I picked up her shifts as well. Now, I am working about 50-60 hours a week, plus going to classes and doing work. It is all just putting too much pressure on me. Now this guy I have been seeing has been pressuring me to stay because he really doesn't want to have a long distance relationship.

Anyway, finally a guy at work suggested that I take classes online and get my online degree. He said it will still take a lot of work, however the classes are more condensed, have a flexibility of scheduling, and cost less than a traditional college. He said it is a way for me to stay with my friends, get me degree and still find some serious room to breathe, which is exactly what I need. He even said that they will offer me financial aid which will help me pay for my classes and books and stuff, and that it is less expensive and takes less time than the school I am at right now. He said you can do all your work for a class in just a week or two and then you can be on to the next class.

Well, finally I can get my degree online, and still have the flexibility to work and have a life. I can't wait to get signed up, this is the answer to my prayers!!

Super Bowl Ads

Everyone knows that one of the biggest parts of watching the super bowl on TV is seeing the commercials. We look at all of the beer commercials and the new ideas that advertising companies have come up with.

So this year at our super bowl party we were excited to see what was new. But when the commercials came on we were less than impressed to see. I don't think I found any to be extremely interesting or funny. There were a few, like the Mr./ Potato head one where he is driving with his wife (Mrs. Potato head) and she is annoying him and they stop fast and her lips come off. I thought that one was really cute and funny, however I have no idea what the commercial was for or what it was advertising and trying to sell.

Another commercial that caught our eye (and not really in a good way) was the Go Daddy commercials. While this web hosting service had an eye catching commercial, we had no idea what it was. A few days later we ended up going online and looking at it and found that it was a web host service and it was clear from the website that that was what it was. However while I am sure that this web hosting choice is a great one, I didn't know what this company even was form their commercial.

I think that maybe companies are trying so hard to be funny and eye catching with their ads in the super bowl commercials that they really are getting off topic and losing the product that they are trying to sell and get across in all of the hype. Sure some of the commercials I saw were funny and I thought that they were interesting. The problem is that I have no idea what they were for or trying to sell. What is the point of spending all of that time, creativity and money on a commercial that isn't doing anything for your company in return? If I don't know what it is selling, I can't buy it obviously. So I think that maybe we should go back to the old school commercials and maybe that really is just what we need right now. Some of the best and funniest things come out by accident or when you aren't trying so hard to produce them.

Decorating Majors

Recently one of my roommates Kayla, who is an interior design major had a project to do where she had to shadow someone in her field. She ended up finding someone who was redecorating a home for clients near our school and was able to spend time helping out and even giving her input.

She would come home every day when she was done and tell us all about it. It was actually pretty cool to hear about (I am a pre-pharmacy major so I am really out of that loop ha) and see the samples.

So she would come home and we would go through her box of rug samples and tile and magazines of designer lamps which were really cool. The family that she was working with were newlyweds (which is so exciting and fun) and they just built a home so they got to start fresh and new and it seemed like such a great experience for her. She said she learned a lot and that this really helped her to know for sure that this was the major and career path that she wanted to pursue.

Last week the women whose home that she had helped with invited us to come over and see it and all of the hard work Kayla had put into it. So we stopped by and took the grand tour. It was so amazing. The house was gorgeous (and so was one of the Pendant lamps that I helped Kayla pick out). It was so cool to see that she had helped out with this and helped to change this couples lives. She decorated and helped design everything from woodwork to rugs to colors on the wall and even a playroom for the kids that they will have one day.

It is so cool to see what decorating a home can do for a family. They are so excited to start their lives together in this wonderful home (she even helped with the landscaping and flowers outside and by the deck). Kayla made such an impact on them and I am starting to see her major and why she likes it and wants to do this in the future. It is no longer silly measuring and cutting and gluing to me, she is actually seeing the big picture and helping families put it together and change their lives.

LEARNING ABOUT WEB HOSTING AND SO MUCH MORE

A friend of mine who is really into computers introduced me to blogging. I love to ramble and have many words and thoughts about anything and everything, so I thought I would give it a shot. He showed me this Blog Hosting site and how to set up my own blog and I decided that it was so much fun that I started doing it, and I have some really funny life type blogs and some that are about more serious issues like the government and the economy. He hangs his car up on the bulletin boards all around the campus, and he helps everyone with their computers for free, well, if they need a part or something then they pay just cost for the part, but still, this is an incredible service. I keep telling him that he needs to start charging people, even if it is just a small fee, or taking donations or something. He won't hear of it, he enjoys doing this kind of stuff, plus he knows that most students don't have any extra money lying around. People are really nice to him, and pay him not with money, but with stuff. Either they buy him something he needs or take him to dinner or something just to say thanks.

Now he is doing some seminars on campus to teach people about web hosting and about blogging, SEO marketing, and so much more. He is doing it as a series once a month and the first one is on Choosing a Good Web Hosting Company. This information is important for everyone no matter what field they are going into. After all, computers are the center of the universe these days, and no matter what business you are in you will have to have some involvement with computers and the online world, whether that is placing orders online, running a website or website design and creation. Knowledge of computers is going to be necessary for all of us, and even though we have grown up around them, there is always more to learn, and things that are changing. I think that is why he has over a hundred people coming to his first lecture, that and the fact that he is so well liked.

Finance Class

Last semester in my finance class we learned a lot about government health plan (especially since the election was coming up at the time we got to hear about how each of the candidates felt about the issue). We learned all about insurance and different plans (like car insurance and life insurance) but mainly we focused on health insurance because it is the most important (basically) and almost everyone will have it.

One thing we talked about in the class was low cost family health plans. We had to get into groups and talk about the different plans and benefits and see what fit each made up family the best. The activity about the low cost family health plans probably hit me the most because health care is so expensive now and it is something that everyone should have. It is weird to think that there a lot of people and families (especially with kids) that do not have health care plans because they can't afford it or their jobs don't offer it and they can't get it on their own. I feel like a lot of people (myself included) take health care and overall insurance plans for granted).

With the economy the way it is now, it is hard for families to afford the basic needs let alone extras and to some families, health care may be considered an extra and they just have to hope and pray that no one in their family gets sick. Other families may have someone already sick and their healthcare payments are just so high that they can't afford them anymore. I know that when my dad had cancer (he is in remission now thankfully) that the treatments are very expensive (like hundreds of thousands of dollars) and thank God we had insurance and could afford it, but it makes me sad for all of the families that don't.

I am glad that we got to learn about these things in school so that we are prepared for the future. It is scary to think, but we need to be saving money now (as students) realistically speaking. We need to prepare ourselves for what will happen what we get out of our little bubbles after graduation and walk out into the real world and have to pay for a home and food and insurance all on our own. We need to plan now for the future.

HANDICAPPED VANS DIRECT MAKE TRAVELING POSSIBLE AGAIN

I love to travel, and thank goodness so does my husband. We used to travel all the time before he had surgery, but since his operation, he can't stand or walk for long periods and we actually had to get a mobility sales rep in to show us some of our options for just getting him around the house. We have been able to adapt some things on our own, however we got him a power chair that has really helped him to be more independent again. I have been expressing to him that I would like to take a trip, however, he doesn't feel that the handicapped van that we have will make it on a road trip. He said we would probably have to rent a vehicle to travel in, however, neither of us were really sure if that was a possibility. I contacted a company called handicapped vans direct, and they let me know that they did have vans to rent for travel and such. I was relieved to hear that this was an option and I think that when I told my husband about hanicap vans direct, he was happy about it. We are really trying, both of us, to live a relatively "normal" life, like we used to before the surgery, but it hasn't been easy. I know that he really wants to be able to travel again and this wonderful company will afford us the opportunity to have some fun again. It has been a while. When a loved one is sick, you go through a lot, and now perhaps finally we are beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel. It would be really nice to cut a break and be able to get away for a while.

I think that it will serve us both to get out and have some fun. I am hoping that if our first few smaller trips go well, then in a year or so maybe we can take that big trip to Disney that we have been looking forward to doing. I know that at least they will have handicapped access to their parks, and will be able to accommodate my hubby, even with his wheel chair.

High School Benefits

I went to a high school where all we did was prepare for college (or whatever you wanted to do after high school). It is known nationwide as a college prep school and last year our school had the most perfect scores on the ACT of any schools in the country and a lot of students that went to the Ivy League's after graduation. We took practice tests over and over for the ACT and SAT and were enrolled in as many AP classes as we could be and studies and prepped for AP exams for months (even on Saturdays) we also had an emphasis put on extracurricular when we were in school. As much as grades mattered (and they mattered a lot) we had to make ourselves stand out to others whether it was sports, languages or clubs or even running a charity event every year (which we were all encouraged to do and they usually were a huge success).

One thing though that I really think helped us was guest speakers. No matter where we wanted to go to college or what we planned on doing, our high school had someone come in and talk to us about it. There were even lectures about Heavy Equipment Schools for Active Duty Military. You could see the schedule of people who were coming in for the upcoming month and you could sign up for it and get excused from class or your sport or whatever event you had and you could go (but you also had to write a paper on the speaker so people wouldn't just skip class to go). It was very helpful. A few people I know went to the lecture about Heavy Equipment Careers (which is something that I had never heard about before that) and they had a lot of Heavy Equipment Career Information for the people that were interested and wanted to learn more about it.

Overall, even though in high school it felt like they were pushing us so much and that we barely could breathe with all of the college stuff they shoved down our throats and activities and grades, I think I, as well as everyone else I know that I went to school with (which is about 1000 other people in my grade) got into the school of our choice or the plan that we had for ourselves after graduation. So I guess I have my high school to thank for a lot of my opportunities and also success.

Insurance: Getting to know it Before It's too late

Over the last holiday my family and I were talking about different kinds of insurance. I'm not sure how It was brought up, but my grandparents were telling us about insurance when they were younger and how it has changed today and how no one ever helped them chose which car or health insurance was right for them, they just needed to make that decision on their own and hope it went okay. Then knowing what they knew, they helped my dad and his brothers figure everything out when they were older and needed guidance and (hopefully) my dad will do the same for me because as of right now he pays for my insurance still because I am covered under his as a student. But one day sooner or later I will have to branch out on my own and hopefully by then I will be educated enough to make a smart decision (with his help of course ha).

Insurance quotes are confusing to me. You can go online and look into them but there is always small or fine print that you don't get when you are looking them up or they are just an estimate. It is hard to get a full grasp on everything. The good thing about looking up quotes online is that you can compare them to one another. I was helping out my grandparents the other day because they were calling around about senior auto insurance and I couldn't even believe it. I told them that they could just look online and they were so impressed. It was weird because I would have gone to the internet first thing and it probably wouldn't have occurred to me to call places and talk to people about it.

We also looked up temporary short term health insurance quotes and talked about the pros and cons . It is nice to hear about their experiences with different kinds and get some health insurance leads before I actually have to go out into the real world and get my own insurance. I know people say you have to live and learn and sometimes make mistakes, but I would rather just learn from their mistakes (or the mistakes that they didn't make) and use that for my benefit and guidance when I have to do it on my own.

Human Sexuality class

One day last semester in human sexuality class (I took it as an easy and fun elective to get away from my hard science classes for a few hours) we had to go through magazines and pick out ads that had a sexual connotation of some kind to them. Most of the girls picked out pictures of women in sexy lingerie advertising things like makeup or perfume. But surprisingly the guys picked out much different stuff.

When the females picked out ads we picked out the ones that were obviously sexual. Either the person in the ad was doing something that was sexual and you could tell right away or they were wearing lingerie or barely anything at all. The men though (although they did pick out some of the same ads as we did) picked out stuff that was meant (by the people writing the ads) to be sexual but really unless you thought about it or were always thinking dirty (like a lot of these guys) you wouldn't see it.

The ones they picked out were more subliminal messages that you had to be thinking sexual to get it but I guess that the ad company probably knows how men think since they are paid to do this. It was just interesting to see everything that the guys came up with because we thought for sure they would go straight to the naked women licking their lips to sell lipstick or something similar (of course some of them did). But a lot of them found more abstract ads as well.

The project and activity were actually fun to do and we learned a lot from this class. It wasn't like other classes where you have to kill yourself basically to stay awake and pay attention, we actually almost all had a lot of interest in what the teacher was saying and she kept us going with movies, activities and group discussions. I would recommend this class just because it seems like something kind of gross and weird to take as a class but you do learn a lot about sex and relationships but you also learn things that most people are afraid to ask, but are addressed here. It was fun and also informational at the same time which I think isn't the case in most of the other classes that we take as high school or college students.

TV and its Influence

I remember when I was younger (like in 7th or 8th grade) and I was watching the show Friends with a bunch of people and Phoebe was talking about massage and what massage can do for you and your body and mind. I always kind of thought massages were kind of dumb but after watching that show I started to appreciate all the people who went to massage therapy school more instead of laughing at them. To be honest it really doesn't matter if it's dumb or not because if people are doing it (enough to stay in business) it must have been a smart move. And after watching it on TV and my friends getting them, I actually do go once in a while to get a massage.

It's funny how things you see on TV really catch on in real life. You see someone getting a massage or a manicure on TV and you want to be pampered just like them. Or you see a haircut on a famous person (which you have probably walked past several normal people and seen) and you decide to go out and get one just like it. I remember the Jennifer Aniston hair craze. In junior high and high school everyone wanted hair like hers. Or when celebrities or someone on your favorite TV show that you like is wearing something like a pair of boots, you really want to go out and get them.

It seems like most of the styles and ideas and even the things we do we get the ideas for them on TV or in the movies or from friends or family members who saw them on TV or the movies. Or when we are looking through magazines for style tips too. Sometimes I wonder what it was like before TV and movies and magazines. Where were people getting their fashion sense from or ideas to go out and do certain things? I remember watching a movie in high school where there were best friends and every Wednesday that had a girl's night. My friends and I thought it was a good idea and we started to do that. Now that we are older and go to different schools and are working during the summer we barely get a chance to all see each other at once, except for that great idea from the movie when we meet once a week on Wednesday to catch up.

STOP ANIMAL TESTING NOW!

I grew up on a farm and the farm animals were my friends. I think that is what inspired me to become a veterinarian. I have always loved animals. As I grew up, I became completely aware of animals and how they are used and abused in our society. Once I realized how many animals I was eating, I quickly turned vegetarian, and I have never believed in wearing animal hides or fur at all. It is completely unnecessary in this world where synthetic products are available for purchase and for wear. I think that it initially what drew me towards PETA. PETA in case you didn't know is an organization that is for animal rights and stands for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. This group believes what I believe and that is that we don't have the right to mistreat, abuse, or misuse animals in anyway. That includes not eating them, not wearing them, and not using any products that have been tested on animals. PETA is pushing the use of cruelty free products and is trying to put an end to and stop animal testing. I believe that the key to stop animal testing is to further educate the public about the horrific existence that is suffered by animals in testing labs throughout the country and all over the world. Although more and more companies are finding alternative ways to test their products, many more companies are still testing on animals. For instance, household products companies and cosmetics companies are still forcing animals to ingest large quantities of their products, squirt them in their eyes, force animals to inhale aerosol sprays and so forth. Even charitable organizations use money from private donations to fund experiments on animals, for instance the March Of Dimes. The truth is the Federal Government is no better, as the FDA still requires all drugs be tested on animals. Many would argue that this is a good way to see if a drug is safe for human consumption, however, the bottom line is that animals DNA varies significantly from that of humans, and this makes the tests that are being run on these animals, unreliable and dangerous. There are many other options that are much more humane, are less expensive, and are much more accurate. For instance research can be done on cell cultures, computer models and even human studies which prove to be better sources of data anyway.

Please let us all move toward stopping the inhumane treatment of animals and move toward an environment in which all creatures are treated equally and with respect.

Debt

I was looking online for a school project for finance class and I ran across a website about debt settlement. The website talks about how the company can help with debt reduction and monthly payments and even getting creditors off of your back and stop them from calling you.

One of the things that this company can do for you is debt negotiation. They can talk to creditors to help get your debt lowered and even help with dropping your monthly payments. This website really is informative and can help you (and a lot of people today) get out of debt. With the economy the way it is right now (and not looking like it will get better anytime soon) a lot of people will be, or do right now need this service.

Companies like this can help you to not only relieve debt for you, but ease your mind and stress. When you have piles of debt it is hard not to stay up at night worrying about it. While a lot of people just ignore their debt problem for a while or try to negotiate for themselves. But by involving a company that really knows what they are doing, you may be able to get your debt reduced and help you out a great deal.

It is scary to think about being in debt, but really when you look at statistics, a lot of American families are (no matter the amount) actually almost all of them are in some sort of debt according to figures I found online and in my finance book. With the economy being bad, I feel like the debt will just pile up more. We need to be able to get a handle on this debt and out money situation as a whole before we get worse and worse and then aren't able to pull ourselves out. There are qualified people out there that were trained to help people reduce and get out of their debt and they need to be utilized. Their one job is to help people and they were trained and taught to do just that. So instead of ignoring your debt and letting it pile up and get worse or trying to take care of it yourself by calling creditors, you might want to leave it to the experts and save yourself a lot of money and stress.

Learning about safety

When you are little you learn about stranger danger and stop drop and roll and all sorts of things to remember in case of an emergency. But when you are older, people just assume you will know how to handle a situation. Well I was reading the paper on day and I read about a safety class that I decided to take. It was only two days long and it was full of interesting things like home security tips, what to do if you're car breaks down or you get into an accident, how to change a tire, care for certain illnesses, bee stings, cpr and all sorts of useful things that you never even think of.

Of course having a security camera or system would be an excellent way towards home security. But there are also things you can do just everyday that can make you safer, like lights on timers so people think someone is home or making friends with neighbors so people who see something going on at your home will alarm you or just maybe placing a security sign in your window even if you don't have a system to scare off burglars and even getting a dog. All of these things are useful tips to making yourself safer (and feel safer).

The class also talks about illnesses and how to care for someone with alcohol poisoning (which actually came in handy for me one time when I was at a party and a friend drank too much) and how to deal with car problems (which are always happening to me).

The thing is, I am sure that I probably won't experience all of these problems ever in my life, but I will have to deal with some, and if and when I do, I will be prepared and calm (more importantly calm). Even if I never have to use any of the things I learned in this class, I feel safer just knowing that if that situation were to arise, I would be confident in solving that problem in the correct and efficient manner. Knowing these things help me put my mind at ease thinking that I am safe and knowledgeable. It was definitely the most well spent 2 days I have had so far in my life. I guess it is true what they say, knowledge is power.

Offshore Information

Offshore formation is something we learned a little about in econ class my freshman year of college. We learned that offshore banking is just an account that is held outside the lines of your country. It is free to due and is normally located in a low tax jurisdiction. This way you could be earning interest while no taxes (or low taxes) are being taken out it your account offshore. I also learned about a lot of other benefits that include: freedom and leeway in estate planning, confidentiality and privacy, better interest on tax returns and global access to income. One thing that I think is appealing to a lot of people is that you don't have to actually go to or visit the country in which you wish to open or access your account. You can open and access and manage your account through the internet (which is basically how most people do it here anyways with normal checking or savings accounts), fax or telephone.

When we were learning about offshore banking we had to look into two different companies: the Belize Company and the BVI Company. BVI is the British Virgin Islands Offshore Corporation. This corporation provides flexibility, privacy, tax exemption, confidentiality and minimum capitalization. The Belize Company is basically similar to BVI.

We basically looked online to find out information for both of these companies and they actually had really detailed websites and even we were able to understand most of what they were talking about and explaining. We took a look at the frequently asked questions page and it included a lot of interesting facts. They explain about tax exemptions and interest and how to plan your estate if that is what you are using offshore banking for. It really goes into detail and captures most of the questions that you could imagine people would ask or have asked in the past.

Even though I have never thought of before this project or really even heard of offshore bank accounts (other than on TV or in the movies I guess) I feel like I have learned a lot from having to learn about them in class and looking into them more online. Maybe one day I will need to open one in the future (or someone I know) and now I know just a little bit more than I did before about them.

Jared Lansky

Being a blogger it is important to get you word out there when you find it so you stay on top of what's happening in the world we live in. Blogging is like a huge community discussion but you have to weigh in on more than just your ow community issues. Some bloggers tackle to big political stories or the latest movie star screw ups. Others like myself are just here to talk. I look at my writings at somewhat of a online journal rather than some kind of vehicle for social or political discourse. All that stuff is a little too heavy for me to weigh in on and I don't think that I'm informed enough about that sort of stuff to really bring anything fresh to the table. What I want to do is to just write ad have fun as sort of an extension of my own life.

For those bloggers out there who are handing out fresh material I feel the deepest sense of respect and reverence for what they do. The ones that post for the major newspapers are my favorite. I love all of the ones that are affiliated with New York Times and with the BBC. I am also a huge fan of the Perez Hilton blog which is all about the latest hollywood news from the host who is this super opinionated gay gentleman who writes like twenty posts a day. The shear volume that he puts out just blows my mind because he seems to be writing about every single event that happens in the lives of these stars all over the world. I don't mean to say here that the larger, corporate, or most prolific blogs are the only valid ones because this is definitely not true. I frequent plenty of blogs, such as one by my friend Jared Lansky, that share information that people want to know none the less. That's what it really comes down to with these things. If someone wats to know it and you are the one writing it, then you've got yourself a fan and they've got a source that they can begin to trust.

Businesses

Companies are always giving away things for potential (or even current) clients. One time I was at a local golf course and they were giving away promotional polo shirts for people to wear on the course. I think though that it wasn't until I got to college that I saw the most giveaways ever.

When you are on a college campus, you can't turn a corner without seeing someone trying to give something away. We have a corner on our campus where people stand and give out flyers to upcoming events and advertise their businesses and even give away things. Welcome week at school is usually when you get the most stuff. When I was a freshman I walked across campus one of the first days of school and I came back to my dorm with a free red bull, 2 t-shirts, pencils, a whole book of coupons and a sandwich. Yes, that's right, I got a free sandwich. It is unbelievable what companies will do to try to get your business. I remember one day last year my roommate and I were walking down campus and there was a stand advertising free pizza. Well in order to get the free pizza you had to go to the local pizza place and sign up for a credit card from this specific company. Well I already had one, but we decided to go anyway and then just cancel the card. So we signed up for the card, ate our free pizza and then we canceled the card a few days later. We basically ripped them off, but think of all the students who fell for that credit card. They probably either have it right now and are paying for it, or some may have it and are racking up debt and keep using It and using it. So the store really did win.

Corporate gifts are something else that have become really popular. My dad's company gives him tickets to games like baseball and basketball so he can take clients (but usually we just get to go with him), But it is a way to sell the client and also keep the company on good terms. The client sees all of the benefits and wants to be involved in a company that has all of this going on. It is amazing what promotional gifts and products can do for both the business and the client.

Finding travel medical insurance

This morning I took my last final everyone. Of course school couldn't possibly let me off easy before I go and I had a full hour and a half of essays to write starting at eight in the morning. I had to ride my bike the whole five miles in the cold at about seven just so I had time to look over my notes before the exam. It was a particularly hard one too so I drank like a gallon of coffee before I left. I think I did pretty well though and I will probably be making Dean's list for this semester. Either way I did end my semester on a high note and things can only get better from here since I leave tomorrow for my vacation and semester abroad. Tomorrow morning at five is my flight back to Texas and then I will be off the Madrid for the spring semester. That should be a lot of fun but I still have a bunch of things to get in order before I go.

Everyone talks about how cool going abroad for school is but they never talk about how much preparation actually goes in to making the whole operation go smoothly. First of I have to get myself some insurance for when I make the trip and then I have to get all of my papers in to a folder ready for each checkpoint along the way. I have been looking in to Unicare since they cover me right now here but I haven't looked in to being insured abroad. The people who run the program said that one of the most important parts of my job is to make sure I have good travel medical insurance.

I also have to take care of some domestic items before I head out too. I personally feel like my parents are weird for doing this, but they think that to make me more responsible that I should research and pay my bills, with their money of course. Before I leave I have to get some car insurance. I'm still a resident in Texas so I'll probably just do a Texas online car quote and get it done quick before I go. I won't actually need the policy until May but they feel it is important and so I do it. That's the rub I guess.

Football Family Weekend

Every year for my brother's football team there is a family weekend. The families get custom football jerseys with their members name and number on the back. It is a really cool weekend actually. There is a dinner on Friday night when they have funny stories and everyone gets to mix and mingle and the afterwards there is a bonfire. Then the next day there is a game against the players and their parents. This is always the funniest to watch. The parents get football t-shirts with their names on them and we watch as they play the kids. It is funny to watch for me especially because my dad and brother go against each other but they are basically the same person. They talk the same, look the same, think the same and act the same. It really is an entertaining day. Then afterwards we all go out for pizza. Then finally on Sunday we all go for the last game and then afterwards there is a ceremony for awards and other recognition. This year I got to go to it because it was over our fall break, but last year I didn't get to see it and I was actually pretty disappointed.

I think that it is rare that families get to do things like this together anymore. Everyone is always so busy with school or work or sports or friends that we hardly get to see each other (especially now that my sister and I are away at school). So this weekend really is a great time for us to relax and have fun together as a family. I used to think it was really fun to go to when I was little because my dad was the coach so we would watch other families and sometimes get to play along (we were really young then and my dad didn't want us getting hurt). But it is interesting now even more because my brother is playing and it is fun to see how my dad plays with him and how he did before he had a kid on the team. Now we all get involved and we all play and we get to have a great weekend together. And I also get a really cool custom jersey out of it. I tell people it's mine because the name on the back is our last name ha.

Cars for charity

It is the season of giving, but perhaps like me you don't have much money to go buy something to give away. I have been trying to think of ways I can make some extra cash so I can go buy gifts and figured out that I have 3 sheds full of useful junk I can sell. I have a used hamster cage that I paid twenty five bucks for that i should be able to get at least ten dollars back on. I have some old toys, but they will not sell for much so I may have to donate them to charity. That is an idea... charity. Charity is a good way to get a tax write off. When I used to live in North Carolina Charlotte NC cars for charity were a hot commodity. I wanted a new car and would not get much money for my old one so I donated it and got a 500 dollar tax right off that spring. I have a couple of old computers, a sofa, coffee table, dressers, and two television sets I can donate. I wonder how much I can get back from donating those. Even if I don't mae much money by donating my old stuff at least the act of charity will fulfill my seasonal desire to be generous. Actually I love to be generous all the time. I enjoy giving gifts to my family and friends. It is fun to think about something affordable they they will love to receive. And their reaction and apreciatiion is always nice to see. I consider myself a great gift giver. My favorite part of gift giving is the gift wrapping. I love to add ribbons and bows to my packages. This year I am wrapping with brown gold and silver tones with holiday patterns. It is rather classy. Last year after the holidays passed I bought a set of wrapping paper on clearance, but I forgot I had it so I bought new stuff this year. Ooops. I guess the clearance stuff will have to wait for next year. Will it last that long? It might not be a good idea to let it sit around for another year so maybe I should donate that as well. I wish someone would donate to me a dog house for my two dogs. That is what I really need to buy right now.

Natural Diet Pill

I have always wondered what natural diet pill meant and how they are different from regular diet pills. I looked them up online and found out that natural diet pills do not contain chemicals, caffeine or any other harmful products. This makes them seem a lot more appealing than regular diet pills if those are the ingredients in them.

The website also says that they melt fat away and have no side effects what so ever. Which is even more appealing. I think though that I am a strong believer of having to try something yourself to believe it. Although it helps to see all of the testimonials online of people who have taken the natural diet pill and it has worked for them. I think it really is something that would be willing to try.

I think that natural diet pills being advertised right now is actually really appropriate with all of the go green stuff going on. Being natural and organic and healthy is really in right now (hopefully it will stay in and not just be a fad). People are buying organic foods (and even some people are starting to grow their own foods like fruits and vegetables in their yard) and soap and shopping with reusable bags instead of paper or plastic. I even know people who are starting compost piles in their backyards and this is something that I haven't heard about people doing for years. They are paying more attention to recycling and reusing products. Not to mention the new light bulbs out now that are more energy effective. Everywhere you go you see people wearing go green shirts or carrying their reusable bags (my roommate has one that says I used to be a plastic bag on it and it is super cute). Going green is really the thing to do right now and it is catching on fast. People are even driving more efficient cars or carpooling or even riding their bikes to work. There are so many different ways to go green and help out the earth and yourself (it saves you money most of the time). Celebrities are even supporting this cause and you see them all over promoting recycling and not being wasteful. So I can see why natural diet pills would be a really hot commodity right now with people trying to get healthier in a safer way.

Dual Action Cleanse

I am constantly reading about cleansers or diets that people go on to remove stuff from their bodies. Usually it seems nasty to me, especially when it involves fasting for days at a time or eating random things like lemon juice with pepper in it or something. It seems like celebrities swear by these cleanses and diets, but do ‘real' people actually try them ever?

Well I actually have heard of a more appealing one called dual action cleanse. This cleanse can remove toxic buildup from your body, make you feel cleaner and healthier, make your skin and hair more radiant and reduce bloating. That sounds like a lot of this I wish would happen to me right now. I actually do know someone that used this cleanse and it worked for her. A lot of this you hear about on TV or in magazine advertisements make you nervous and skeptical but after a friend uses it and it works for them it becomes a lot more credible.

It says that the cleanse works within the first week that you are taking it which is nice because that is more short term for the people that like to see results immediately (basically everyone now a days). There is also a website on the dual action cleanse that gives you tips to think about when taking it. The tips include: drinking plenty of water, cutting down on alcohol, watching your portions, not skipping meals, relaxing while you eat, exercising regularly, avoiding tobacco and using medications cautiously. While these are things that people should be doing everyday anyways whether or not they are taking the dual action cleanse, it is good to point out. I feel like people aren't always thinking that a little change in their routine can help a great deal. I remember in high school I went on a water kick and drank water constantly. Besides the annoying side effect of constantly having to go to the bathroom (which is a pain in high school) drinking more water actually made me feel better. I'm not sure if it was just because I thought I was being healthier that I felt better or if it really was just the water, but I felt just better overall.

I think we all just need to take that step to get healthier and feel better for ourselves. Whether it is doing some sort of cleanse, or just drinking more water, we should start getting on the right track.

CDL License

I just found out a little while ago (even though I probably should have known out of plain common sense) that you need a CDL license to drive certain motor vehicles. I guess I never really thought about how different cars or trucks could be from one another and that you would need more than a regular driver's license to be able to drive something different than a regular automobile. For example if you are driving a truck with hazardous materials in it you would need to know how to handle it accordingly or if you have a number of trailers you would also need to know how to turn the correct way and how to stop without making them run into each other.

Many companies require their employees to go to a trucking school to learn how to drive that particular vehicle correctly. I can't even imagine what it would be like to drive one of those big trucks that carry new cars from state to state. I was driving back to school yesterday and I saw one that had 6 new cars on top of it just driving along. I would have to guess that the driver had a lot of experience or training to be able to maneuver a truck with that much cargo. I couldn't imagine driving a truck like that and having to be responsible for all of those new cars that were on top.

Even though there are special requirements to obtain a license for a truck or unusual vehicle, I think there needs to be more focus on people getting their regular license. I know that there are random days when they do testing and some people have to do it and others don't and I do honestly think that people who have a good record, like my dad, should still be able to renew their license though the mail, however I think their needs to be more of an emphasis on new drivers who are just getting their license. When I took my driver's test I blew a stop sign and still got my license that day without having to retake it. I'm not saying that I am sad to get my license or that I didn't go straight out and celebrate and drive around with all of my friends, but years later I realize that maybe there needs to be more discipline when it comes to being a new driver and maybe more time and experience on a permit required.

Discount Carpeting

My roommate is an interior design major and she gets all sorts of deals everywhere because she buys so much stuff at hobby lobby and other craft stores. She even ordered us discount carpet tiles for our kitchen the other day because with winter here snow is being tracked all over our house and the carpet helps to keep it in one place (and it is really cute too).

It is really cool to see all of the stuff Kayla uses for her projects. She gets free and discounted stuff from all over and she always has carpet squares or counter top samples sitting around in the living room or on the floor in her room. She even looks around to see what other places have stuff, like the other day she looked online to see what discount carpets UK and other places had to offer and she actually found a really cool sample that was from Spain that she ordered.

Sometimes I get jealous of her major. It feels like the rest of my roommates and I are out at the library constantly or always taking or studying for tests and she is just playing around with play houses and carpet squares. I'm sure it is hard work and I don't mean to make it seem silly, but I just can't imagine what it would be like to have just projects all of the time (and fun ones too). I hate studying and she never has to take tests, she just has to do designs that she has weeks to do and finish and then she doesn't even have to present them, just bring them in and hand them to the teacher.

Of course I am sure it isn't all fun and games. She is often up really late working on tiny things like gluing or cutting out tiny microscopic squares from a piece of cardboard or something weird like that. And she is always measuring things to make them exact and using the computer to make blueprints. So I know that it obviously is a lot of work, but it just seems like a lot more of fun work then studying for a genetics test or writing a paper and doing a presentation on RNA like I had to do this semester. I like my major, and I would never change it, but sometimes I wish I picked one that didn't require so much work.

NO WORK MEANS, NO HEALTH INSURANCE

The idea of more people becoming unemployed is really scary to me. I am not sure if it is the idea that if I were to become unemployed that I would lose my income, or more importantly my health insurance, which is really a frightening scenario.

I guess having just gone through a bout of unemployment a year or so ago, I realize how precious having a job and having health insurance coverage is. You know how they say, you don't know what you've got til it's gone, well this is really true. If you would have asked me about the importance of having health insurance two years ago, I would have told you that it was no big deal, and that I really didn't use mine much anyway. You get so accustomed to having it, that you really don't think about it. Well, I remember several times when I was out of work, little things coming up that I probably would have run myself or my kids over to the doctor for, but I stopped dead in my tracks when I realized that I had no insurance coverage. I didn't realize how much of a safety net it really was, to know that any time I needed to I could go to the doctor or emergency room, without worrying about how much it was going to cost me. I was really blessed and didn't even know it.

Since getting back to work, I don't take having a job or health insurance for granted. I am blessed to be working especially in these uncertain financial times. I am grateful that my employer has enough work to keep my going and working in the food industry helps, because even when times get tough, people will still need to eat. Over all however, I am still worried about potentially losing my job, so I want to be prepared, just in case. I have gone online and gotten some insurance quotes, just in case I need to start paying for my health insurance myself. I am also saving as much of my money as I can, just to be on the safe side. After my experience last year, I know that it is not a really good idea to take employment or insurance for granted. One day they could be here and the next day POOF!

Apotheke

It is funny how in one country something can mean one thing, but in another country it can be something so different. I was looking on the internet the other day and I ran across a website about new bars and restaurants and I was reading the reviews on them. Apotheke is one that is new and really popular now. I tried looking it up online individually instead of on the website that I just saw it on in a list with several others. So when I typed the word in, I saw that different things came up in German, like online apotheke, which I saw was an online pharmacy. It interested me a lot that something that we have in the United States as a bar is the same name of a pharmacy in Germany.

The text on the site says: "Es macht mir Spaß, die Menschen zu beraten, ihnen zu helfen.

It means that an pharmacy is the right place to help people.

When I thought about it more though, maybe the name apotheke was meant to represent that real word from Germany. A pharmacy or an apotheke is a place where people go to get their medicine and to get better or heal themselves. A bar sometimes plays the same role (well at least sometimes it seems to for some people). A lot of people go to bars with friends to have a good time, celebrate or just relax after work or meet up with people. Other people though go to bars when they are feeling down and they need a drink, as if it is like their medicine. When someone is having a bad day or they just lost a loved one or maybe even their job, they will often hit up the local bar and have a few drinks (or maybe more than a few). So I think maybe (and I could be totally off) apotheke as the name of a bar is really a symbol of that it does for people.

I have heard about other bars or restaurants that are in places like Chicago, like the one I just talked about that are named things like Beso (kisses) which is also interesting. I think it is a great thing to live in America where everyone is so diverse and has a unique background because we end up with great places like these where we learn about other people and their histories. In other countries, people aren't always allowed to express their differences or their individuality and I am lucky to live in a place where we can.

ANNIVERSARY GIFTS - DON'T BE AFRAID TO ASK

Choosing the right gifts can be very simple or really difficult depending on who you are shopping for. If you know of something that the person wants or you know the people really well, then usually you won't have a problem, but if you don't then you can wander aimlessly from store to store, without a clue and usually what I find is that you tend to spend a lot more money when you don't have any idea what to get someone. This is why it is a good idea to ask the person or people what they want. Sometimes overlooked as an option, this method of choosing a gift is usually the best. The person knows what they want and at least if you buy the person something they want or need, then chances are they will be happy with the gift. Some people think that there is something wrong with using this simple method, however, I think that if you don't know what to get someone, it is better to just ask them.

This is especially true when buying anniversary gifts, because they, unlike other gifts are usually for two people, and sometimes what will make one person happy may not do it for the other person. Also, what I have found is that most couples, except for maybe your parents or grandparents, you know one of the people better than you know the other one. Since anniversary gifts are for two people, it is usually best to ask them what they need or want for their home or if that is not your style, then perhaps it is best to get them tickets to a show or a concert, depending on their style, or the all so famous gift certificate for a night out, whether it be to the movies, their favorite restaurant, or even a local hotel or bed and breakfast. There are many things that you can do also, like make a goodie basket filled with wine and wine glasses, different cheeses and so forth.

There are a lot of great gift ideas for couples, but I stand by the fact that asking someone what they would like for their anniversary is usually the safest bet in the long run.

ONLINE ADVERTISING GURU JARED LANSKY

Opening a web business you learn a lot about the internet and about how the whole thing works. When you open an online business, just as in any business you need to get good advertising online to make your business a success. I began looking into opening my own business online several years ago. I had a good idea and a plan, but I wasn't really sure about how to go about advertising my business online. As I began researching online advertising, I realized that one name kept coming up Jared Lansky. I had never heard of him before, but each time I researched advertising I kept coming up with information from him.

After reading several online publications by Jared Lansky, I knew that he really understood what I needed and how to really break down the information so a lay person like myself could understand it all. He offered some tips that I found really helpful like the information about ways to get quicker results from your advertising like using banner ads, pop-ups, and contextual ads on websites to promote your business, instead of using pay per click advertising which could actually take much longer to see results with. He was not saying that pay per click advertising was a wasted investment, as a matter of fact over the long run, he suggests it, however it will not produce the quick results that banner ads will produce. On this matter he was right on.

I found that he also offered up some great tips on how to access some free advertising on the web. Creating text and pages that you could turn around and link back to your site. Also, worked really well and so did his tips on making advertising creative and innovative as well as using catchy words and phrases.

The bottom line is, if you are looking into doing some online advertising then be sure to look up Jared Lansky. He really has some great tips and some helpful hints that are simple and some are even free. I don't know much about the guy, but all the information I got from him worked really well.

THE LATEST IN SOLID WOOD FLOORING

At first I was a little hesitant to get wood flooring installed throughout my house. I know like anything else it needs to be taken care of and I was really worried that it would damage easily and become an eye sore. I have always enjoyed having a carpeted house, and never really wanted to have a home that was done in solid wood flooring, but my husband really wanted it, and well, convinced me that it would look really nice. When we first met with a few of the companies that we were considering to install our wood flooring, we asked a lot of questions, we really wanted to understand the process and the costs involved with doing this, but then after meeting with quite a few different companies, we really started to understand the process, until one company threw us a curve ball. They started talking to us about underfloor heating for wood flooring. To our surprise, none of the other companies had even mentioned that such a thing existed. We listened carefully to the man as he explained that this was a coiled system that they installed under the wood flooring and that in addition to making the house more energy efficient and making the flooring itself keep a little bit higher temperature, that installing a system like this under our new hard wood floor would preserve it and help keep it from getting damaged and make it last longer. He said that because wood shrinks and expands with temperature changes, that it is a good idea to have a heating system installed to help regulate the wood temperature and that would help keep it from expanding and contracting all the time. Regulating the woods temperature would allow us to insure that our wood floor would last for many more years and continue looking great.

Well, honestly, after the guy left, we weren't really sure why the other companies hadn't told us about such a thing, so we hopped online to find out more information ourselves about this underfloor heating that the man had explained to us. What we found was basically that doing this could save us a lot of money in the long run, plus it would allow us to have a more fuel efficient home. Needless to say, that is the company we went with. At least we knew, that they knew their business.

Dental Health

Finding a dentist that is right for you is extremely important. While I'm pretty sure not many people look forward to going to the dentist office for a checkup or a procedure, you should at least be able to tolerate it and enjoy the people that are providing that service for you. ZocDoc is a great way to find a New York dentist if that is the area you live in. You can type in what you are looking for, for example "Brooklyn dentist" or even "dentist in Bronx" and it will bring up the dentists in the area that you selected and what healthcare providers that office accepts.

For example, when I type in the Brooklyn dentist, it comes up with 34 different dentists for me to choose from in that area. Then I can narrow it down even further by typing in what insurance plan I have and what I need done (a filling, regular cleaning or even emergency dental surgery). This way is the most efficient and I can find which dentists near me accept my insurance plan and can provide me with the service I need. The best part is that you can go ahead and make an appointment right then and there online. It is so easy and you know exactly what you are getting.

My favorite part is that you can look into the specific dentists on the website itself. You can click on that dentist and it will show you what health care providers they accept, where they went to school, what languages they speak, what areas they specialize in and other general information about them. Then it also shows the upcoming dates that they have open appointments and where they are located. On some of the doctor's profiles they even have reviews by people who have used this website and gone to that dentist and how their experience was.

This website is great and overall it is very convenient for patients. It is important to have a dentist that can fulfill all of your needs and when you can go online to a website and type in the information and specifics that you are looking for in a dentist and they will find one for you, it is amazing. It is a time saver and extremely helpful and very stress relieving. It is such a pain in the butt to have to call around and ask questions and be put on hold all of the time. This way you have all of the information at the tip of your finger.

NEW MMA GEAR FOR MY FIGHT NEXT MONTH

I have a big fight coming up next month and my parents have offered to get me some new mma gear for the fight. I am really looking forward to getting some new gear and I have been online and found a few sites that want a lot of money for their stuff. I know that I can get a better price, so I have been shopping around. I know that my parents offered to pay for the stuff, but I don't want to see them overpay and I know there have to be some good discount places to get mma gear. I found the pair of fight shorts I want, they are snake skin fight shorts and I found a great pair of professional fighting gloves. I have been into martial arts for years, but I have only recently gotten into mixed martial arts, and this will be my first real fight and I want to look and feel professional. I think that it will really help me to get into the right mind set for the fight.

Most people don't realize how difficult mma fighting really is. They think that it looks pretty simple, however being in the right mind frame for the fight is just as important if not more important than the actual physical training for the event. I have to spend a lot of time preparing mentally for a fight and I have gone up against some of the best guys at my training gym, and so far I have been able to beat all of them. This makes it seem real that I can actually win the fight next month, but I have to stay focused. Losing your focus during a match can cost you big, and if you aren't careful, you can get really hurt.

I know that my parents worry about me getting seriously injured, but I don't believe that will happen. In spite of their fears, they have always been there to cheer me on, and I do appreciate their support. I know that all the preparation I have done will help me and so will having some new fight shorts and gloves. I am all ready to go into this fight to win, the waiting is the hardest part now.

Match point network

Match point network is a company that helps people to expand their franchise networks. It teaches them how franchising works, the business structure of franchising and if you have what it takes to get involved with this process. It also gives you information about how to buy a franchise (finding the right one for you and evaluating how the economy is working toward your advantage). Above all, match point network helps you with the details of franchising that a lot of other companies may tend to over look. These details include: how to attract and keep your customers, referral and loyalty marketing and building up your brand. They also work within your team helping with goal setting, leadership, helping to set a standard and an image for your team to shoot for and portray. And finally, once you get your business started it helps you to continue on and grow to you and your company's advantage.

There doesn't really sound like a better company to me. Match point network takes you from beginning to end and helps you turn yourself and business into a success. They have all of the resources that you need to make the best of your franchising experience.

I have always been a big believer in the phrase, “it's all about who you know”. I really do think that not necessarily only who you already know, but who you reach out to helps you to succeed. You have to be willing to ask for help and research in depth the task at hand. If you learn everything possible about and find people that have already gone through this and will help you on your journey. By reaching out you can really help your business succeed.

Networking is something that we have always been taught. I went to a high school where college prep was basically all we did. We learned how to interview and take tests and get involved. But the most important thing that I learned was to reach out to people and network. Some day we will have to find jobs and when we do hopefully we have networked enough to know someone who can get us in. We are all going to be qualified grade wise and have gone above and beyond so it really does come down to who you know and finding someone to get you into the program and help you out.

Franchises becoming more popular

Franchises have always been a mystery to me. Obviously I go to fast food restaurants and shopping malls, but I have never really thought about what goes on behind the scenes. Then one day at a family party my aunts sister told us that her and her husband and looking into buying a Subway franchise. I seriously didn't know that people could even buy subways or stores or restaurants like that. Like the dunkin donuts, I thought they were like family owned or something, I had no idea that anyone could buy them.

What surprised me the most was how easy they made it seem. As long as you had the money to do it, the rest really was pretty easy to figure out. They had these classes already set out for them and they just had to follow a check list of things to do before they could actually be in charge. It was like just a training period where they had to pass a math test and go to different kinds of classes and then the subway was theirs.

A few months later my friend and previous roommate from freshman and sophomore year was telling me about how her family bought a subway as well. While my aunts sister got rid of it (I'm not exactly sure what happens or what happens with your money) other people were buying them like crazy. It made me really wonder what was so great about that particular franchise or if a lot of different franchises were this hot right now and I just hadn't heard anything about them. I just don't know what makes someone wake up one day and say to themselves, I want a subway. I feel like the classes and the pre-made check list gives you the easy way out. If I were to own a business I would want to go through all of the hard work and fun to make it my own and to really feel accomplished. I probably wouldn't want to take something that was already created and just do that, but apparently that is really the thing to do right now, so maybe in 20 years when I have money (hopefully) I will change my mind and want to do that (well hopefully it won't still be subway), but something along those lines. Sometimes I feel like people buy things like franchises just because they feel like that is the next step and they have the money so they should do it.

Natural Diet pills better?

I have always wondered if a natural diet pill is better for you. The only difference that I have found by looking up both diet pills and natural diet pills is that natural ones do not contain any harmful substances and they say that there are no side effects to take them. They contain no chemicals and are 100% natural ingredient. It also says that they are safe to take even if you are taking other medications and will no effect or lessen the results of any medication you are currently taking at the same time.

The thing that I like the most about the information that I have found bout the natural diet pills and that they focus more on you as a whole and talk about making a weight loss plan instead of just depending on the pills to lose the weight for you. Weight loss and diet pills are definitely a great supplement to a good diet and proper exercise routine, but they are certainly not a replacement for these things. They also stress the fact that you should consult your doctor before taking those pills or any other pill. I like advertisements that are truthful and straight forward with you. This particular ad is for a natural diet pill but also tells you that the diet pill isn't magic and that you do need to take the proper steps for it to be effective. Other diet pills should be advertising the same way because the same thing is true for all of them. A company that tells me the truth is one that I am more likely to buy from. This particular one is telling me to consult a doctor to make sure that it is okay for me to be taking that pill and also that I need to have a plan to go with the supplement. To diet and exercise properly and that the pill will work.

Diet pills have always been something I have looked at with caution, but more and more information has come out about them so I now view them more safe and like something that I am willing to try. With such positive information out there I really do think that I can find a diet pill that will work for me and with the research I have done about the natural diet pills I think that may just be the way to go.

TRYING OUT A DEDICATED SERVER

Struggling with my internet server had become a way of life, long connection times and losing connection in the middle of doing something was a regular issue that I had just become accustomed to. Then one weekend I was staying with a friend and I asked him if I could use his computer. He said sure, so I got onto the internet and began researching and found that not only did his computer stay online the whole time, but his connection speed was like lightning compared to my computer. When I mentioned this to him, he said that he used to have the same problems that I was experiencing but then he discovered using a dedicated server. He said by using a dedicated server, he was not only guaranteed the best performance and speeds, but the dedicated server also had an excellent customer service line to help with any problems that he encountered along the way. Overall, he was thrilled with his service, and I know how impressed I was, so when I got home I got online at http://www.alentus.com/dedicated-hosting/server.asp and got in touch with their customer service department. They were able to set me up with a package that was right for me. Well, since having my new system installed I can't believe the difference. My internet connection was always available and the speed was incredible. Now I can save a few hours a day, and get the things I need to get done, faster and much more efficiently. The truth is that time really is money. I am now able to get the most out of my internet connection and get my work done in about half the time. This definitely frees up more time for me to do my school work and get some extra play time. I am so glad for the weekend at Tom's place, if it weren't for him, I would have never believed that getting a good solid internet connection was possible for me. It is amazing how one visit to a friend's house can change everything, at least that is what happened to me.

Popularity of diet pills

Today, diet pills are common. It is rare for someone to not have a friend or family member or even themselves taking diet pills. People used to take much more caution when talking these over the counter supplements, but now they are so common that people sometimes even take more than one at a time. I think that when they were new or at least before they were really popular, people worried a lot about the side effects or what would happen to them, but now with so much experience and everyone we know taking them, I'd be surprised if you looked in someone's home and didn't see a bottle of diet pills of some sort. They are advertised non-stop now and if you read the newspaper, magazines or watch television, you are sure to come across an advertisement for a diet pill of some sort.

Ephedra diet pills are something that I have just recently learned more about. I have heard that they work on people who do not choose to exercise. I have always thought that diet pills were supposed to be used as a supplement (an addition to) diet and exercise and those they were part of the complete plan. But I am hearing more and more that these diet pills, like the ephedra diet pills just melt the fat off.

I used to be really weary about diet pills in general, more afraid than doubting them because they are over the counter drugs and I feel like people tend not to consult their doctors when it is something that you can just pop in and buy, especially when it is being advertised by celebrities, and even being able to order them through the television and online. But now, after knowing so many people who have taken them and been fine and even lost weight using them, I feel like maybe that is a step that I might be willing to take. Although I will still probably consult my doctor before taking them, I feel like with diet and exercise, diet pills might help me to lose those 10-15 pounds that I am looking for. I no longer feel like taking diet pills are like cheating, if you really think about it, diet pills are like studying your notes before a test, they just enhance and boost what you already know and are doing (dieting and exercise).

Internet Research Could Save your Life

Now a days everyone uses the internet. My grandparents email me constantly (they thought that if they didn't learn how to email and use the web that we wouldn't find time to contact them and keep in touch). But it is amazing how much time people spend online looking things up (it makes me wonder if public libraries, at least the book part of the libraries) are seeing a decline) on the internet. I looked at my computer history to see everything that I have looked at n the past week and it included everything from checking my mail, bank statements, weather, map questing directions to visit my friend at school this weekend, looking into grad schools and researching a new fad diet. All of these things I thought about and then went straight to the internet knowing that I would find everything that I needed to know in one stop. Using the internet for research though can help you save a lot and in some cases it could even end up saving your life.

Looking into home alarm systems online and being able to compare and contrast each one saves you time, money and could eventually save your life. On websites like securitysystemspro.com and alarmsystemstore.com you are able to look at different products and compare them to see which fits into your lifestyle the best. You can click on each alarm system and read about all of the features it has to offer as well as comparing prices and finding where to get each one. You can learn more about each single system individually and become more familiar and narrow down your options before having to go in a talk to someone or have a consult in your home. This can really help to save you on time.

Researching security systems on websites like homesecurityguys.org can help you to get more information on technical support for your alarm system once you have chosen one or maybe to learn more about the product when it is in your home or it something were to go wrong.

Having these resources is extremely valuable. A lot of people think that the internet and technology have made things less personal (and that is undoubtedly true) but it also is convenient and could be a life saver to have the information at the tips or your finger or the click of a mouse.

Party Planning

When I went home for fall break last weekend my little sister who is ten was telling me about how she is having a Halloween party at our house and inviting all of her friends. So over the weekend my dad took her to the store to get party supplies. She came home with so much stuff; I couldn't believe she convinced my dad into buying it all for her.

When I was younger I always had a themed birthday party, and I also had a yearly Valentine's Day party but for the most part that was it. One of my other friends always had a really good Halloween party that everyone went to all throughout grade school. I remember how we would always compete for the best theme at our birthday parties. Like the month before our birthday we would start planning out every little detail, it would drive our parent's nuts, they would have to drive us around everywhere and make or order all of the food and help us decorate and send out invitations. We always said we were the ones that planned it, but really our parents did it all.

We had some pretty great themes though. Roller-skating parties used to be a big deal in sixth and seventh grade and there was a part where they would turn the lights off and turn the black lights on and we would all have glow sticks that we skated around with. Then in our party favors at the end it would have glow necklaces in them, which we thought were so cool when we were 12 years old.

When I really think about it college and grade school aren't that different. Sure, the beverages served at the party (and probably the things that happen after the party) are a little bit different, but people are still planning themed parties and competing to have the best bash. I went to a luau party at the beginning of the school year and it was great. It was thrown by a frat that is down the street from my house and it was so cool. They had a bonfire and everyone wore grass skirts or swimsuits and my friends and I wore flowers in our hair. The atmosphere is so much better when there is a theme to the party I have found. It seems like people are more relaxed when they are dressed like everyone else and playing along with the theme.

Searching for shade structures California

Our church is building a kids play area right on the back property of the church. The design has been all laid out and it is going to be an incredible play area. There is even a grown up sitting area under the one tree that we have in the back. Well, we all met last night to review the plans and someone raised the question about how hot all the equipment was going to get being constantly exposed to the sun. We didn't want the kids to get burned, as happened at one play area just recently. Then another woman chimed in asking about having the kids playing in sun's direct rays and suggesting that perhaps we should consider installing a canopy or something over the kids play area to combat both of these problems. The head of the committee pulled out her laptop and began searching for shade structures California, and she found some incredible canopies, but when she searched under shade canopy california, we all were in agreement that these structures were a little too big and heavy to use over this type of area. Then someone suggested doing a search for shade sails california, and sure enough, shade sails looked like they would be perfect. I had never heard of a shade sail before, however, they looked really nice, and they were lightweight enough that we could order them online without paying an arm and a leg on the shipping of it. They said that they were good at blocking out the suns UV rays, and yet they seemed to not block the sun completely which was really great. The price was really reasonable and so we just had to get approval from the treasurer to spend the additional monies for the shade sail. I think it is a worth while investment to insure that the kids don't get hurt because the equipment is too hot, and also that they don't have skin issues in the future. Keeping kids safe can take a lot of work, but it is nice to know that there are companies like this that can help you do it for a reasonable fee.

FINDING THE OLD KA-BAR AT GRANDDADDY'S HOUSE

Recently when my grandfather passed away, we had to go and clean out his house, which was a horrible thing to have to do. I felt like I was invading his space, even though he was no longer alive it felt a little too personal to go through all his belongings. Because I felt this way, my mother left me to go through the attic, I felt a little bit better about this, because I knew that he has stuff in the attic packed up from a younger day, things that he felt were important enough to save, but yet it wasn't quite like going through his underwear drawer. I started going through the boxes and found old letters and photos, it was really quite an adventure. I found an old knife in one of the boxes and although it was old, it did recognize that it was a Ka-Bar. A Ka-Bar was a hunting knife that was developed in 1898 and later in World War II it was used by service men to fight hand to hand combat. I knew what it was, and when I went downstairs I asked my mother if she would mind if I kept it. She said it really didn't matter to her, since she was only going to be able to keep so much of grandaddy's stuff anyway, I may as well take what I want. Well, when I got home after a long day of rummaging through my grandfather's house, I went online to look up information about the knife I had found. After a while of not being able to find the same exact one, I got frustrated and gave up, but I still was curious because I wanted to find out what this bowie like knife was really worth, and when it was made. Finally, I just decided to take it for an appraisal, and I found out that it was not from WWII as I had first thought, it was actually an original Ka-Bar which was made in 1899. The guy asked me if I wanted to sell it, but I said no. He offered me $2000 for it, but I told him that it was my grandfather's and no amount of money could get that knife out of my possession. At least now I know it is worth something, so I will definitely get it insured and put it in some type of display case.

A Cup of Tea a Day Keeps the Doctor Away

My roommate swears by tea. When we moved in, she was the first one here and her shelf in the kitchen pantry was stocked with wholesale tea that her mom had bought her. She said it was supposed to last her the whole semester so that's why they had bought so much in bulk, but that much tea would seriously last me a lifetime, and probably have some left over.

She drinks white tea every single day, and the worst part is that she leaves the bags all over our house. When she drinks it before class in the morning, she is running all over the house, so who knows where you'll find her tea bag. Sometimes I'll wake up in the morning and she'll already be gone and ill find her white tea bag in the bathroom. It really does gross me out (and our other roommates), but it doesn't seem to faze her at all.

I do however have to thank her tea habit a little for making me feel better a few weeks ago when I had a cold. Even though the herbal tea that she says cures everything did not get rid of my cold at all, it really did help to make me throat feel better and that put me in a much better mood than I had been in for the past few days. She makes herbal tea sound like it could cure cancer though. She says that it keeps you from getting colds and losing your voice and that it can even prevent you from getting the flu. She goes around preaching to people about how much better their lives would be if they drank more tea. The funny thing is that when I got sick, it was her that I caught my cold from. And having it only be the middle of October, she has been sick a lot, probably about 3 or 4 times this year so far. But I guess if it made me feel better for a little while and took away my pain, then I have no right to make fun of her. But seriously, if there was a tea club or group, Kayla would be the president of it.

I guess everyone has little flaws or bad habits, and especially having roommates is hard, but I guess her bad habits could be worse than leaving tea bags out.

taking advantage of debt counseling

Many people are worried about their jobs, but I bet if you are in the field of Debt Counseling, then you are not worried about job security. With the stock market plummeting, the cost of everything rising, and very little hope on the horizon, more and more people will need to turn to a debt counselor for assistance in managing their finances and paying off bills. I have not personally used their services, however, I do know many people who have gone in for debt counseling and say that the services they provided really helped them straighten out their credit. I don't really know if getting your credit straight will be any help right now, after all, all we keep hearing is how the credit industry is not handing out any more money. I personally don't really know whether this is true or not. I do know that if you are in debt, then you really do need to get the creditors off your back and come up with a reasonable repayment plan so that you don't go bankrupt. Most credit counseling companies will help you consolidate your debt and will set up a monthly payment plan that you can afford. They can also help you work out a budget, which quite honestly is the reason that most people don't have any money. Learning to budget is an important skill that needs to be learned by anyone who is handling money, even if it is just for your family's money. Getting your credit straight now can really help you out in the future. The economy will bounce back, and when it does you want to be on a secure financial footing. You also need financial counseling to help you find places that you can save money. The more money that you can put aside with the tightening economy, the better off you will be. It is really time to get your debts paid off, avoid using your credit cards, and bring yourself and your family to a more financially secure place. This will be the only way to survive this economic downturn.

HIGH SPEED INTERNET ACTUALLY SAVES YOU MONEY

Originally I was reluctant to pay a little more for a faster internet connection and I really didn't think that there was going to be much of a difference. My husband kept pushing me, telling me that our dial up connection was way too slow and at the time we were running a business online and to him it seemed like a worthwhile investment. I shopped around for high speed internet and found a good deal on DSL service from my current company. It only wound up costing me about $15.00 per month extra, but the differences between DSL and dial up were incredible. About a year later, we moved to a more rural area and the DSL service I was using was no longer available. My husband was unwilling to switch back to dial up, so we tried cable high speed internet which worked really well also. I loved being able to hop on my computer and access the pages I wanted in an instant. Now whenever I am forced into using a computer that uses only dial up service I go crazy. It is really annoying to wait for what seems like hours for just one page to come up. I don't think that when that was all we had, that I really noticed it was that slow, but I am sure it was. I wouldn't trade my high speed connection for anything in the world. Getting online and being able to instantly access whatever page I need quickly saves me time. Time is money, so therefore if you are looking for a way to cut back in this tough economy, be sure that you don't cut out your high speed internet. In the long run, getting rid of this, will wind up costing you more in the long run, especially if you use your internet often like I do. There is no better investment than a good connection for your internet server, after all, you can use this to bring up sale ads, check out the local paper online, even get access to online coupons. Shopping is also great on the internet as you can shop for the deals on sites like Ebay, and you can bid at the last minute and not have to wonder if your bid is going to go through before the auction ends. In the long run, having a high speed connection saves you money, so be careful where you cut back.

Furniture For College

When my three roommates and I decided to live together this year we went searching for the ‘dream' house (well as dreamy as you can get for college students living in Muncie, Indiana). After a few houses we found one that we loved. There was a full basement (with enough room to house at least 3 folding tables for beer pong and a ton of guests), a big living room, a deck for tanning and 4 really big bedrooms. The only problem was our kitchen. Although it was huge, the layout of the room left us no space for a real kitchen table since there was a bar like counter. So we decided to sign the lease and figure it out later.

So after signing the lease in November of 2007, we forgot about house hunting and all of our responsibilities associated until about June, a month before we were going to move in. We realized we still hadn't come to a conclusion about the table. I knew I was in charge of the couch and my other roommates had divided up other furniture among themselves, but we still had to find bar stools or counter stools for the kitchen and basement. So when I was shopping at home before I came I looked for something for our kitchen that would look cute, more like counter stools than something you would be sitting on to drink a margarita. I found a few cute ones but our counter in the kitchen was an awkward height, so most of the stools I had looked at were too tall and the ones that seemed to fit made us look like midgets when we sat on them. So we opted to get a cuter kitchen table for our gigantic living room and to tell the truth, I was kind of nervous thinking that it would look really tacky, however it looks great and it gives us a lot of room to move around still (we even occasionally have beer pong up in there, and it fits with our TV., couch and the table with plenty of room to spare.

The basement however was much easier to find bar stools for. We found really cute black ones that were actually not too expensive for our bar and the swiveled and had black cushions and silver around them which matched our decorations down there! I think next year though when we are looking for furniture we will start a lot earlier and try to measure better, because when you live in a another state, it is hard to remember or picture the room if you have only seen it a couple of times and to find furniture that fits and looks good.

Pet spaying and neutering

If you are considering getting a pet, please be sure that you can afford to take on this responsibility. You can get a pet relatively cheaply, but pet ownership can become very costly over the long haul. Most people consider the cost of taking the pet for a check up and the costs, but many people don't think about the cost of spaying and neutering their pet. There are some places that will do this at a discounted fee, just to insure that the world does not become overpopulated with cats and dogs because then these animals need to be destroyed. This is a sad fact there are tons of animals destroyed each year because there are no homes for them. Perfectly good loving animals destroyed just because no one wants to take care of them. This is not however, the only reason to spay and neuter. Believe it or not it is actually healthier for the animal to be spayed or neutered. Many animals have problems with their reproductive organs and having them removed can actually provide them with a longer and healthier existence.

Other costs to consider when getting a pet are the costs of providing an outdoor area for them to run. Some people prefer pens, but I feel that a big open yard is really the best way to go. You can accomplish this by fencing in the area or by using an electric fence. The only problem with the latter, is the issue that even though your pet will stay on your property, other animals can enter the area and then leave again and your pet can not fairly defend itself. Also, keep in mind when purchasing or adopting a pet, that sometimes pet expenses can be as much as human medical expenses. If you have a pet who is sickly or becomes ill, it can be a very costly venture to get them the care they need.

I am not trying to discourage pet ownership. I love animals and think that everyone should have a few pets around. They are excellent companions, are great friends to the elderly and children, and can give you a reason to get outside and move. Keep in mind however, that owning a pet is a lifetime commitment. Don't take the decision lightly. Research and find the perfect pet for your living situation and be sure that you can live up to your responsibility, that little creature is counting on you.

natural diet pills

Losing weight is a struggle for millions of American's primarily because of our sedentary lifestyle and our poor eating habits. In this country many people suffer from heart disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and diabetes, mostly due to the lack of nutrients in our diets and the fact that we spend so much time sitting around. So what can we as a country do. First and foremost, try to get some real food into your diet. Many people will complain that they don't have the time to watch their diets, however what could be easier than toting around some fresh fruits and vegetables to snack on? And walking instead of taking the elevator or escalator. What about walking on a tread mill while watching your favorite TV show? Did you know that some people have actually installed treadmills instead of chairs at their desks so they can walk while working on the computer or taking a phone call? Sometimes you have to be creative, but it doesn't mean that it is impossible to get yourself back in shape. Also there are many nutritional supplements and natural diet pills on the market if you find that you are having trouble controlling your appetite. Also, experts say that the key is eating many small meals (almost like snacks) all throughout the day. They say that this method helps keep your metabolism moving and keeps you burning fat and calories all day long. There are many little steps that you can take to get your weight back under control and keep it there. Using these steps in combination with one another can make for a great way to find balance and increase your fitness level. Let's face it we all want to stay around as long as we can, whether you are young and wanting to start your life, or older and hoping to stay around a while to see the great grand kids. Fitness is a concern in all walks of life, for every sex, creed, race and nationality, we all have one thing in common, we want to get and stay healthy and what better way to do that then to exercise, eat right, and take some natural diet pills to supplement. We can do it if we are just willing to retrain our brains to think healthy.

stethoscope

I just finished my first paper of the semester and can I just say that I am already feeling the semester pinching me. I am already starting to lose sleep over things and I haven't even gotten to those weeks where I will be doing more papers in three days that I have all year. I hope that something fun happens soon because I just need to blow off some steam for once so far.

My first paper deserves some discussion now that I have myself out of the way. This was for my modern medicine class and basically it was supposed to be a research paper about the development of any medical technology that we chose. I chose to look at the stethoscope since I have also been doing my EMS training these past few weeks and I have one lying across the room as we speak.

I looked in to the beginnings and the modern developments of the classic stethoscope. I found that Mr. Littman designed the original Littmann stethoscopes when he was at Harvard as a professor and researcher. He was designing these items for use in his work in cardiology. Cardiology stethoscopes soon came to be a big business for his after he the patent. Eventually the company was bought by the company 3M which still sells them to this day. They bought the company in 1967 and they are still the largest producer of stethoscopes to this day. Now that we have been completely immersed in the technological age, the design has moved to the electronic arena. Though the designs are still being worked out in terms of sound quality, I wouldn't be surprised if they became the norm quite soon.

I hope that you all found some kind of interest in this. I really had a lot of fun researching this because I also took a look way back at the very earliest histories of the design which were basically just conical tubes that had a bell at one end and was pressed to the chest. Now the design from Littmann has found its place as a modern staple of the medical community in this country and beyond.

technology trends

Sometimes the news can be very interesting, but sometimes a bit troubling. I enjoy hearing about the latest technology trends but sometimes I find that the world is just becoming too advanced. Don't get me wrong, when I first heard about pbx technology that was exciting news. PBX technology is great news for those who are in big business, this is like voip except on a better larger scale to service businesses that have much more advanced phone services than anything you or I could even imagine. Now they can get the same great service and a nice low price and all in a business phone service. It is really wonderful news. I remember at the inception of voip reading the voip telephony news and getting really excited about it. I know that sounds silly but I had been struggling for years to bring down the cost of my home phone. I had switched companies and switched plans and it seemed no matter what I did, short of disconnecting it all together, I couldn't get that bill down past about seventy bucks a month. Well, I must have been one of the first customers at this company, because as soon as I read about this great new phone technology I was in. I have been actually happy about paying my phone bill every month. Anytime I can pay a bill for less than twenty a month I am really happy to pay it.

Anyway, back to what I was originally saying about technology. I don't find phone technology scary, but some of the science and medical technology leaves me a bit uneasy. I just wonder how far science has really come. Have you ever noticed that you hear little blurbs about stuff in the news, then like magic it vanishes and you never hear about it again. Like for instance, I heard this one story about cloning and scientists being able to clone animals and people, and then I never heard another word about it again. I always wonder if the government says, wait a minute, you can't tell them about that. That is all I can imagine, the government tells the media to put a sock in it and they do. Best I can tell, there are way too many things that we don't know and that I find a little bit unnerving.

Texas health insurance

A lot had been going lately, so I decided it was time for a change in my life. The most logical thing to do at this point in time was to pack up my stuff and move to a new state. I had 3 choices: Texas, Florida, or Georgia. Florida had beautiful weather but is hurricane prone. Texas is super hot but I have family in Texas so I'd be able to adjust relatively easily. Georgia has good universities, especially the historically black universities.

Unable to make a decision completely on my own, I called my mom for advice. She had been the one who had influence me to move in the first place, citing that the change would do me some good. “Who offers the best health insurance?” she asked when I looked for advice. Health insurance? Was she serious?

“I don't think there's much of a difference betweenTexas, Georgia and Florida health insurance, Mom,” I replied to her. I could hardly see what health insurance had to do with anything.

“You get sick easily, don't you? You want to be wherever you get the best health insurance coverage, because if you don't you'll end up getting very sick with nowhere to go.”

She had a point. I get sick very very easily because my immune system is weak. My previous year would have been pure torture if I didn't have insurance. I honestly caught every virus, bacteria, and illness that went around campus. I'd only started avoiding sicknesses when I began taking Vitamin C, and even then I would still catch a cold or two. People even started staying away from me, especially when they were sick, because they knew just how quickly I caught illnesses.

I hadn't even bothered to look for health care plans because, well, who does that? But I looked up a few plans anyway, deciding that I had nothing to lose. Turns out the school I wanted to go to in Georgia offered a health insurance plan as part of tuition, which meant I wouldn't have to worry about paying for it out of pocket.

I called my mom back to tell her what I'd found, and she sounded really excited. I'm not going to base this life-changing decision on some health insurance. Thought it's good to have that in mind, it's nowhere near enough to influence me this greatly.

I just hope this doesn't come back to bite me later.

Ontario auto insurance

I have never been to Canada, which seems strange because I have been to places much further than that and so many people I know have. One of my friends when I was in grade school had another home there (I think his dad traveled back and forth for his job). Last year Ball States football team played in a bowl in Canada, but I was on vacation so I couldn't go. I wonder though if it is a lot like here, since we are so close. It is weird to think that a location so close could be different from ours. I was looking online to find out a little more about it when I came across a website about The Financial Services Commission of Ontario and I clicked on it to see what it was all about. The website gives a ton of information for the consumers like Ontario health insurance quotes and what to do after an accident if you have Ontario auto insurance. This website seems like it is not only very useful for current residents, but also a learning tool for those that don't know very much about Canada and its policies but would like to get a better understanding. Some of the topics other than auto and health insurance include credit unions, banking and information about mortgages and financial and other institutions.

In one of my classes we are doing a project where we have to plan out our future careers and choose and home and cars and basically our whole lives and insure them and pretend it's real and make a budget and so on. But the only options we had were to live in the United States. I think it would be interesting it the project was expanded to living anywhere in the world. That way we would be able to learn more about other cultures and governments and their policies and how they compare and contrast to ours. It is inevitable that someone taking personal financial planning 110 at Ball State University will one day live outside of this country. It would interesting and beneficial for us to learn about mortgages and interest rates and taxes not only here in the united states (which is extremely important) but also in other countries where we could potentially decide to reside one day or at least maybe vacation for a long period of time. It can't hurt to know as much as possible.

eco friendly blog

One of my good friends and I were talking last night about blogging and I would like to bring you guys and gals in on the conversation. We have both been blogging for a long time and we really enjoy the freedoms allowed by blogging when it comes to what you choose to write about. It is also nice how much freedom you can afford to those who choose to respond to your posts. If you want to you can choose to create a blog designed to be a kind of message board, or you can choose one like mine where you lovely readers come and hear my thoughts without much chance for recourse. I am not uninterested n your thoughts, I just have a lot to say and little time to pour over what others have to say. Those who really have something to say to me will contact me directly.

My friend does the same thing and he runs an eco-friendly blog at midbodyplanet. His blog is all about health, wellness, and ecologically conscious products. We were talking mostly about those before mentioned items, but we also thoughts that we should both drop some plugs for our friends who runs blogs elsewhere online. The first is one of my buddies who runs an online gambling blog at www.mygamblingthoughts.com. Here he basically can give some thoughts and strategies on various gaming techniques and styles. Then the other plug is for one of his friends who writes at technology blog at technologicalthoughts. At this site my friend discusses the newest technologies and actually last week he was talking about the newest gaming systems which I thought was interesting since I haven't played video games in like ten years.

Anyway, I guess that I wanted to write this today because I don't know a better place to gab about my love of blogs other than on my own blog so I hope that you guys and gals can share in the love and make your own blogs some time soon so we can all share in the groove. Happy blogging and happy fall semester.

rehab blog

I just discovered something interesting today while surfing the web that I had never noticed before. You know how there are lots of people now who are getting in to blogging and things like that, obviously since you are reading mine. Anyway, as with my little blog here where I talk about just about anything I can think of to share with you all, there are others out there who are also talking about anything and everything. There even other people on this very network who choose to sort of specialize, unlike my self, in some very specific topic and really stick to theme for their blog. Today I was looking and found an education blog, rehab blog, and a home improvement blog right here on our own server. These are obviously students who are very interested in their areas of study to the point where they feel the need to bring us all in as much as possible with their expertise.

Online there are tons of people doing the same things. Experts and amateurs in all areas of thought are speaking and sharing ideas in attempts to get ahead through this wonderful thing that we call the internet. When I did my looking just yesterday I had already found those within our own network so I was inspired in my searching. I found three sites that are very similar to those in our own server which are just from a different perceptive from ours. They are at the sites educationthoughts, www.drugaddictionthoughts.com, homeimporvementthoughts if you want to check them out and let them know that I'm giving them some props for their hard work. That is what this is all about I believe. Now if you all go and check out their stuff and post then we can have a nice dialogue between us and then draw our sites and readers all closer together. If any of you are so inspired to create you own blog space out there or already have one going, please let me know and I can try to mention you here and bring you in to my little circle and make it that much bigger.

California alcohol rehab

A friend of mine went away to college in LA and I think that he has really gone over the edge. He was raised in a very strict household with parents who were very religious and they really kept a tight hold on him when he was growing up. He wasn't allowed to do anything growing up. He was not allowed to have or even attend parties. He couldn't even go to a school dance. He was not allowed to date. His life was a little bit too restricted if you ask me. When he got accepted to a college he couldn't wait to get out on his own. He knew he would be able to make his own choices and do things his way and it was a very exciting time for him. Well, I spoke to him a few times and I knew that he was partying way more than he was studying. It sounded like drugs and alcohol were consuming his life. I spoke to him about this but he didn't listen. One night he was at a party and apparently had been drinking everything and anything he could get his hands on and using blow which only made matters worse when he decided to take a ride over to his girlfriend's house and ran a red light. He killed two people that night and needless to say he was arrested for driving under the influence and for 2 counts of vehicular manslaughter. It seems that he must have had a really good attorney and since he had a clean record they sentenced him to 2 years in a California alcohol rehab followed by another stint in mens rehab in California for a grand total of 4 years. He will go through both treatment programs one for alcohol abuse and one for the cocaine use and then they will re-evaluate his progress to determine if further treatment is necessary. The saddest part is that he still has not told his parents about his situation, and I am not really sure he ever will. I just can't imagine being in this type of situation and not being able to tell your parents, but he is truly afraid that they are going to disown him, and I don't think that he could deal with that right now.

He calls me pretty regularly to talk, and I am doing my best to try and provide him with some much needed counsel. I am just glad that he is finally getting some much needed help.

promotional gifts

Running your own business can take a lot more work than people realize. As a small business owner, I want to make the most out of my business, but getting our name out there and our business off the ground has been a daunting task. I guess when I was first starting out, I thought that if I had a good product and a reasonable price, I would have a successful business, but it requires much more than that. Running my own business has found me in charge of everything from the actual running of the business, to being my own accountant, advertiser and sales person. I never realized how much of my time and money was actually going to have to go into making a success out of a good idea. Well, finally it is starting to pay off, however finding a way to get the most for my money has not been easy.

The actual running of the business has been going pretty smoothly and I am finally getting the hang of the book keeping, but I am still working on getting my business name out there. I live in a small community, and in talking to one of my customers, he suggested promotional gifts. He explained to me that I could give gifts, like coffee mugs, t-shirts and umbrellas to my customers for free with my company logo and phone number printed right on them. He said by doing this I would improve my customer retention (everyone likes to get something for free) and I would get free advertising for the merchandise price. People would carry around my items and other people would see my company name everywhere. I told him I really did not have a lot of money to invest in it, and he told me about a site online where I could get small items, even just pens that would do the same thing for me. He said it was really a lot more reasonable than I would think, and its purpose was 2 fold. He said he tried it with his business and found an extreme increase in business in about a month or so.

Well, he was right and the site he told me about had some really neat items. I can't wait to start giving the stuff away. It will be so much easier than me having to go out on the off hours and try to drag in some business.

water damage restoration

Water damage restoration is the worst. A week or two ago we had a really bad thunder storm. The electricity went out and a tree fell on our fence, and the rain was terrible. Luckily our basement was fine and no water got in, but the day after the thunder storm I went to two of my friend's houses and both of them had really bad water damage in their really nice basements. My friend Dan's family had to have their carpet ripped up in almost all of the rooms in the basement (I think their exercise room was the only one left with carpet, but even that was fanned down and smelled really bad) and a lot of their furnished had to be taken in to be restored from the water damage. Their video games that were on the bottom shelf of their entertainment center all got ruined including their complete system, which is worth hundreds, probably even thousands of dollars. It is such a pain in the butt when something like this happens and your basement floods. Their pool table had to be restored as well and they had a jukebox that got ruined. It's sad because a lot of their storage was also in the basement in a closet and pictures from their childhood were soaked and ruined.

My other friend Jenn, who lives about 2 blocks away from Dan had pretty much the same things happen to her, but thankfully most of their valuable stuff was up higher. They had to take out a lot of their carpeting as well (which can get to be really expensive) and the bottoms of their entertainment center and shelves had to be professionally fixed. Several years ago this happened to us and we had to tear apart our basement after we had just gotten everything put in. My parents were so upset because we had just moved there and installed carpeting and bought new furniture and put a really cool bar in, and then s thunderstorm came and flooded the whole basement and everything had to be ripped out and we had to deal the basement and start all over again.

Water damage is the worst kind of damage that can happen really. Not only are things wet, but they smell after a day or two which makes your whole house smell and if it isn't fixed properly it can get moldy and eventually make people sick.

Baltimore internet service

This week is move in week for my friends and I and we are all just going crazy with how much stuff we have to get done before classes start. We have a little under a month hot make sure we have everything in order for the fall. We have been trying to get the house and our finances in such a flow that we won't have to think much about that in the fall at all when we have bigger problems to deal with. For now though we are right in the thick of weeks of organization, cleaning, and job finding. I have already gotten my job back from last year so I don't have to look very far, but so far I am the only one to have gotten a job already. For this week my task for the house is to find us a good Baltimore internet service since we have never had to buy it ourselves before. This will also be my first time doing any kind of product research like this so I am interested to see how I do and if I manage to find anything significantly better than other plans.

This is our first year of living off campus and we are all really excited. Last year we all met each other because we lived on the same floor in our dorm. We talked about this plan all spring and just before we all left for break we looked, and found, this apartment. Now we have six guys splitting a three bedroom apartment with a basement and it is going to be a blast having all of us together without all of the strict rules of the dorms. We're all musicians so it was a big problem for us living in the dorms because we couldn't play any music after eleven louder than headphones. We would resort to going a couple blocks away to a park to play acoustic at night but that got old fats when the park seemed to get more dangerous with the weather changing. Now our little home will become something special, I can feel it. We are all going to try our best to make this the best arrangement possible and make some beautiful music come out of it while we're here.

online marketing

I am the kind of person who is very interested in knowing what is really going on around them. As a student this can be a very good and very bad asset. I tend to look at things very intensely and at that I can sometimes get off topic for far too long and miss the point of what I am doing. I imagine that some of this has to do with my personality and some of it may have to do with the climate in which I was raised. My parents very highly stressed the importance of having a great education and thus made sure that I knew everything I could on a topic. The are very proud people, my parents, and thus they always wanted me to make sure I was the most well read and the most well informed person in any room. This also coupled, I believe, with the popularity of the internet at my school which gave each of us laptops for our class work. The internet has become a system that functions as a giant market for goods and services throughout the entire world. As an individual it is a platform through which you can buy and sell just about anything you have or wish to have in a relatively quick pace. This has been a great advantage for those people within the world community who have grown tired of advertisements and commercialization of every aspect of life. Trading will always be important in every society, but the marketing tactics have begun to shift over in to something a bit more human and much less totalitarian in nature. Online marketing, as I have found in my own searching, has changed drastically as a result of a demographic shift away from advertisements to a more individual basis. Now tactics such as search marketing have begun to grow in pace and effectiveness. These new tactics are just meant to link consumers with their products in ever increasing speed, without all of the jargon and empty language.

I think that because of these two factors, I have grown to see the world as a place, like the internet, where answers can simply be plucked from the sky and understood completely at a moment's notice.

weight loss tips

I read a story the other day of a persons father who battled prostate cancer for many years. This battle with cancer taught so many lessons to both the father and the writer, and became a defining experience for both of them. It was quite touching. I thought about my own life, and realized that neither my parents nor I had such a moving, emotional battle with cancer that I could write about. I realized, however, that my mother still has a life-defining experience, although it may not be cancer. My mom has been struggling to keep her weight in check for almost two decades now.

Our basement at home is filled with used fitness equipment: elliptical trainers, ab rollers, treadmills, and other strange contraptions. You could call these machines as the fallen warriors in my moms battle with weight gain. Growing up, I remember my mom always purchasing items from a catalogue or from TV. One month would be filled with shipments of weight loss pills while another would be marked with stacks of frozen low-fat dinners in the freezer. 10-minutes-a-day workouts, low-fat chocolate cakes, fitness centers, jazzercise, and even belly vibrators my mom has tried them all.

Overall, my moms weight has not changed too much. Although it hasnt gotten much better, it hasnt gotten much worse either. I really think there is probably a larger issue with contentment and self-image going on, but in the meantime, I really would like my mother to get sound advice about how to live a healthy life. Ive been helping her lately to get good weight loss tips. I dont think all diet plans and techniques are bad. But there are many bad ones out there. My mom would agree, but you shouldnt buy the first brand of weight loss pills that claim to burn off all fat without you having to change your diet whatsoever. You really need to get good weight loss tips from a source that doesnt have an ulterior motive in offering these tips, and who knows what they are talking about.

My mom still tries various weight loss techniques nowadays, including weight loss pills, but she does so differently now. She carefully considers the expertise and motives of each of these weight loss organizations. She knows that there may be no single magic method, but by considering helpful weight loss tips, her battle against weight gain will yield fewer casualties and more victories.

PHP security

Creating your own website is a bit more complicated than you might think. Sure there are the easy user friendly programs that make setting up your own website fun and easy. Then there are the marketing aspects of the website which add a little bit more complicated process to the site. You need to have a well marketed website with lots of traffic which means more money for you and obviously that is what we all want. So that's it, all you have to do to get up and running? Well, not exactly. In addition to the initial set up and maintenance of your site and of course the marketing and driving in of traffic, there is one very big factor that you should consider and that is the security of your website, especially if you think that you are using a secure shopping cart and checkout. You see, the hackers know just how to break through the PHP security and get into your site. They are especially good at hacking into the shopping carts and checkouts in websites giving them easy access to your customer's personal information and credit card numbers. This can be pretty frightening as a small business owner, the idea that someone else could hack into your site and do harm to one of your customers is very disturbing, especially if the customer thinks that you are the one running around abusing access to their information, that could be deadly to your business.

Don't worry there is hope for keeping your website secure and safe from hackers. Web application security can keep you one step ahead of the hackers and keep your customer information confidential. Using web application security can allow you to sleep at night knowing that your website will not be invaded while you sleep as some poor unsuspecting customer is entering his information into your website thinking it is secure, while someone is lying in wait to rip them off.

I know you thought you had everything covered, but believe me, without a web application security system on your site you are vulnerable.

diet pills

I started a new job this week and one of the benefits is that they offer a gym membership at a very low price. The gym is actually on the grounds and I went today for the first time and was the only one there. It was cool because I got to put up the stereo and do my own thing without any interference. It also has a pool on grounds for the whole family! I used to work out a lot, about four times a week and am only lifting about one third of what I used to, so it was kind of depressing, but I will get there! I need to fix my diet again and lose some weight. I am looking into diet pills and there seems to be a lot out there on the market. Some have really great products at great prices and some are higher priced but seem like they might be better, so I ordered them. I am looking into dropping about twenty pounds and then putting it back on in muscle form. I can use the diet pills to lose the weight while eating better and exercising. There is also a product called hydroxycut, this is a name I have heard of and find it to be an interesting product especially for losing weight and replacing it with muscle. Hydroxy cut states it is the number one seller in America. Because I am new at this job and I feel comfortable with my appearance it is making it an easier transition than at my last job when I went from having a good body, hurting my back and losing all of my muscle and gaining twenty pounds. Now it is a new beginning for me and a new start. I guess I would recommend diet pills and hydoxycut for anyone in my position. I had a serious injury and now am trying to work out again for the first time. I used to be all natural, but now could use some help. The first few weeks will be very light lifting, not like I have a choice. The diet pills I ordered should be here I about a week and I will have to wait until next week to order the hydroxy cut. I can only budget so much money for these items, at least for now. I cannot wait to see the results from theses products and am taking a picture of myself tomorrow and will compare it six months down the road. Wish me luck!!

dell laptops

The perks of working in the technology department are huge when you are at a university as big as this. My new job at the computer store has been more beneficial than I ever would have thought. Of course I have to deal with the daily barrage of horrid questions that just leave me spellbound at the sheer lack of any common sense in those who try to use technology, but I can go past all of that. I think that I have probably used my employee discount more than any other person in the store right now. Now granted that isn't saying much since everyone in there are undergraduate students with no money and very little motivation to work outside of this store. I on the other hand have three jobs right now on top of my class load. You could say that I have a full plate or that I just really enjoy always having something to do and somewhere to be.

Anyway so this summer in particular I have been working so hard that I feel that I should be rewarding myself by spending all of the money that I've saved. I know it sounds a little crazy but I have only been spending my money on those things that will actually just help me to capitalize on my educational opportunities at the moment and long in to the future. Our computer store has a ton of really cheap notebooks and I have had my eye on the Dell laptops for some time now. I have three or four that I really want to get and I am just waiting until I have enough saved up for me to feel truly comfortable spending a good portion of my savings on something like this. A laptop is of course a big investment that if taken care of could last me for a very long time and help me long in to my career after school so I don't want to buy something too cheap for obvious reasons. I just also don't want to forget that I am still the same as every other undergraduate out here; cheap and broke.

diet pill

The late night bug had once again made a home in my house so here I am at 2 in the morning watching a late night TV. When I was younger, I wished for the days when I could sit in front of the television and allow the infomercials to melt my brain into mush. Now that the days were here, I found myself regretting having spent so much time lamenting ability (or lack thereof) to watch greasy salesmen with off color toupees and checkered suits offering to sell cars with bad transmissions to people with no credit.

Tonight I saw a diet pill commercial and looked down at my own flabby love handles and chunky thighs. Those people in the commercial always looked so satisfied with life, with their six pack abs and bulging muscles and model faces. Meanwhile, the only six pack I could ever keep was a six pack of Coke and the closest I got to anything bulging is my veins when I try to open a jar of pickles. I wanted the all star body. I wanted to look muscular and buff with chiseled abs and tanned skin.

But I had to face facts. These people probably diet and exercise six times a week and drink raw eggs and protein shakes every morning and still take the diet pill to keep them from wanting to eat more than what's in their daily percentage value of vitamins and minerals.

I looked back at the commercial, no showing a grinning woman with astonishingly thin body standing next to a picture of her before this pill. Her body in the before picture looked gargantuan compared to the Baywatch babe running along the beach holding that same glorious bottle of pills. Testimonial after testimonial flashed across the screen and each person seemed to start off larger and larger and ended up thinner and thinner. I was starting to wonder if maybe this was really some miracle weight loss cure, almost like Jared Fogle and his Subway Sandwiches.

Common sense tells me, though, that even if I do get that diet pill (which I am seriously considering) the results will require some extra work like dieting and exercise and regular trips to the doctor and careful measuring once a week of how many fractions of a pound were lost, then recording these meticulous calculations into a journal to be proudly shown to your doctor. It's worth the time and effort. Unfortunately, I'm too lazy to put forth that time and effort. Maybe next time I see the commercial I'll be more motivated to get up and go get a diet pill. Or at least, I'll talk to a doctor about it. Or a friend. I guess either way it doesn't matter too much, so long as I talk to somebody. Or think about doing it. It's the thought that counts.

six sigma certification

When I first took the six sigma certification course with my previous employer, I didn't really give it much thought. I thought they had many good ideas about business management, however, I have worked for several different employers and they all seem to want you to take different seminars or training courses along the way. I have always taken whatever courses were available to me, knowledge is power and I want to learn as much as I can. Well, recently when I was applying to a new company and they asked what type of training I have had in the past, I listed my six sigma certification and I got an interview almost immediately. When I was at the interview the human resources director was excited that I had had the training as they were just beginning to implement the six sigma training in their company as well. I was offered the job and got a higher salary for having the six sigma training under my belt.

I am so grateful that I took this training and to my former employer for offering this training at no cost to me. I guess when I was taking the course I just didn't realize how valuable it was to companies. I went online and looked it up after the interview and found out that many of the large companies are looking toward six sigma as an employee development program. The great thing is that I didn't even realize that this was a growing trend in the business world and now I am a more valuable employee than I ever was before and hopefully this will allow me to move up more quickly with this new company.

Six sigma training is well worth looking into in every avenue of the business world and if your employer offers this training program to you at little or no cost to you, then by all means take advantage of it. It may not only help you to advance with the company you are with, but it may provide you with more job opportunities in the near future.

acne products

My daughter and I were at the park and we bumped into 2 girls that she used to go to school with, back in elementary school. Both girls were very pretty and skinny and full of life. I always liked them both and was heartbroken to see how their faces were just covered in acne. To see these girls, you need to know that the huge amount of acne they were covered in made them barely recognizable to me. I know I probably looked a little too long, of course when they weren't looking, but I just couldn't believe that these were the same girls I had known for years. I guess I never realized how lucky my daughter is for just having to deal with an occasional pimple here and there and thought to myself with all the excellent acne products out there on the market, that this seemed to me to be a form of child abuse. How could any parent allow their child to walk around looking like this? What a major self esteem issue this could cause them, and not only that but imagine the scars that they will live with for the rest of their lives after that acne clears up. My uncle has severe creators in his face from acne that he had at an early age. To this day, his complexion still bothers him, so I can't imagine how women with those types of scars must feel.

I guess there are so many different options on the market these days for resolving this problem that it just seems a shame to me. I can't imagine how I would feel if one of my children had acne to this extent. I mean these kids have pimples all over their faces and this in my opinion is not a normal amount of teenage acne. I guess maybe it is ignorance that causes their parents to allow them to walk around looking like that without taking any action, but with acne treatments so readily available by prescription, over the internet and over the counter and at affordable prices no less, it just seems that this problem would be easy enough to fix and these little girls could feel better about themselves and have their cute little faces back. I just seems a shame for any teenage girl to be covered in acne and then scared for life.

business insurance

I was recently looking up car insurance quotes and I have found many different avenues via the internet. It seems every company promises low prices, so where do I begin? I own two cars, one a sixty nine Corvette that sits in my driveway covered. I only use this about ten times a year, and although nice, does need some work. The other is a 1997 Chevy Malibu Maxx

which has two hundred and seventeen horsepower. Pretty good on gas at twenty city thru twenty nine highway miles. I was looking into antique auto insurance for my Corvette, but am waiting to put the work needed into it including a new paint job. My friend and coworker Lenny has an older dump truck that he is looking to unload. I have been thinking of starting a business on the side such as hauling brush or wood. He jokes that he would trade it for my Vette, but he knows this would not happen. Lenny has a wood splitter, but shows no interest in pursuing such a business. He uses it manly for the light Construction work we do such as decks and additions as long as they are small jobs. He hardly ever uses the lift or dump part of this truck so I do know it works well. He does have commercial car insurance on it and tells me the rates are not that bad. I do know Lenny works privately and probably does not have business insurance, so I am looking into possibly carrying both commercial car insurance and business insurance to make it legal. I have read that one bad incident could completely wipe out a business without the proper insurance. If I do commit to doing this I want to do it right. My brother bobby will be returning home for the summer next weekend and might be looking to take a year off. Mom and Dad do not know this yet ,but we have discussed it. There are plenty of odd jobs around and I think with my will and Bobby's brains we could make some good money. I have not been completely honest with Lenny, for fear he would charge me more for the Dump truck if he knew i had all of these plans. He is a long time friend so I know he will give me a great deal, and shoot, i even can build decks on the side. The possibilities are endless and although I am deceiving Lenny a bit, I feel bad. But that's Business...

womens fitness

As a woman, I have really begun to realize that getting in shape is a lot harder for women than it is for men. I have to laugh at the cartoon commercials where the husband and the wife are on the couch and the woman starts saying her husband gave up soda and lost 20lbs, and she drank nothing but water for a year and nothing. This seems to be so true. I guess it is just the differences in a woman's and a man's physiology. I think that women, because they actually house other human beings need to be by design a bit more padded and I also think that the hormonal thing plays a lot into the weight thing also.

I really wish that they had more women's fitness geared programs available. I think this is an absolute necessity and I really feel that there are potentially millions of women who would get on board with a program that is specifically geared toward helping women lose weight and get more evenly proportioned. I am not just talking about women's gyms, but real overall fitness, diet and exercise programs combined and geared towards us. For years and years now my weight has gone up and down like a yo yo and I never seem to find the solution for me. I know that there must be tons of other women like this out there, and I just wish that I had the resources available to make this program happen. Being able to combine a whole body approach would insure that the results would stick, and combining it with support groups etc, would just solidify the health benefits and the bonding. Although many men like to work out alone, most females actually prefer to do it with someone else. I guess it is kind of like the women going to the bathroom together thing; we just don't want to go it alone. We look for the support and companionship of another person who is going to make us get out there and exercise even when we are too tired and don't feel like it. This is definitely an aspect of women's fitness that needs to be incorporated for the best results.

AARP health insurance

Over the years few companies are as well known as AARP health insurance. They have been around for years and are
now helping members become more in charge of thier own healthcare. The plans are available in a handful of states and
are very comprehensive with different options available for members to choose from. These include a variety of deductible
options as well as a selection of copays and coinsurance options. Plus, they also have drug card options that members may
with to choose from. The AARP health insurance plan is not actually offered by the company but rather administered by
United Healthcare Insurance Company and Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. They pay license fees to AARP to enable
them to market the plans in selected states. AARP health insurance is NOT the insurer but rather the other companies listed
above are. The companies are good companies of high quality and have been around for quite some time garnishing the respect
of millions of policy holders nationwide. The AARP health insurance quotes program also has very competitive rates that have been
negotiated specifically for it's member base. There are many places on the web where you can get instant quotes and the best
thing for a consumer to do is to shop around and make sure these rates are best for you. It's surprising to some people when they
discover rates can be so competitive nationwide and vary from company to company but with over 1800 companies to choose
from it's no secret buying any kind of insurance can be extremely rare. I hope this information has been helpful in searching
for AARP health insurance quotes.

check advance

My parents have been trouble lately dealing with the housing crisis. They are among two groups of people that have had a hard time dealing with the problems of our economy lately. The are both retired people and so for the past five years or so they have not been working. Rightly so as they are not in the best of health conditions at this point in their lives. So in this respect they are not the best people to have to be dealing with quick economic changes that directly affect them. When they retired my father got a big check for his pension from the company he worked for for the last thirty-five years. When they got this initial supplement of money they decided that they were going to retire to a new home. They had a really amazing home built in the woods not to far from where our old home had been. Unfortunately for them they were sort of suckered in to one of these sub-prime mortgages because they were paying for the house mostly with the retirement funds given to them by the company.

Fast forward to a year ago and the situation had changed dramatically. There is an experiment where if you slowly heat up a frog in water from very cold to boiling that it will just stay until it dies. This what seemed to be the case with my parents' mortgage payments. They slowly crept from a reasonable amount up to a level so high that they couldn't afford to pay anymore. At first they began by getting a cash advance every month until my father could get his social security check and pay it off. Then he was asking for a check advance to be able to make the rest of the bills on time. This was only a short term solution to a long term problem, but they could not see any other way to survive what was going on. About four months ago they had to sell the house and the took a lot of their debt with them. Now my father does work a part-time job on a cleaning crew for banks in the area and still has to take a monthly payday advance for the mortgage he doesn't own. This whole thing is just insanity to me.

murder mystery

This is my first year staying in town over the summer since my parents are in Europe for the whole time. I will see them the last week before I go back for fall classes but until then I am sort of on my own. The first couple of weeks were sort of difficult because every single one of my friends had left town and I was left to just work and find things to do with my time. I am a restless sort of person so I couldn't have taken this for very long before I would have just hit the road in search of wherever. My complete boredom and increasing loneliness led me to seek out some entertainment here in town. My search took about a week before I found anything but then I realized that our school has a lot of activates here over the summer. Apparently there are a lot of kids who are stuck in the same situation as I am and they alleviate this issue by getting together for various events. I started hanging out with them on their weekly coffee shop date where they all get together and just do whatever has been planned. This time I was excited because it was a poetry read. I love to write and so even though I had never met any of them before I read three of my poems that night, more than anyone else. Since then I have been to a bunch of their parties and this weekend we went on a camping trip which was really amazing since I had never really been able to explore that aspect of the area. Now I am becoming more active in the planning of events and I have taken my love of writing, specifically the murder mystery genre, to the next level. I am planning a murder mystery party in which we will all have to dress up as characters of our favorite murder mystery novel and then we will act out a plot that I will narrate through cues and clues around town. I think that it's going to be a really great time. So if you are bored out there with nothing to do but work, look us up.

Pay Per Click management and SEO companies

Choosing the right company to assist you with search engine optimization is important. I began my own website and I knew about SEO services and that every good website must have a company to provide this service for them. This is the way that your company gets noticed and higher up in the search results. I knew that I needed a company to help me with this, so I went online to find myself a reputable company. The price was reasonable, not the cheapest, I was leery to go with any company that's price was too low. So I landed with a company and let's just say that my experience was not good. I didn't realize all the things that could go wrong with picking the wrong company to provide this service. I initially hired an unsavory company with many bad business practices. I didn't mean to do it, but I have since learned some of the ins and outs to this business and I have learned the things to look for in an SEO management company that could indicate that they are using some illegal business practices and according to the law if you hire them, you too can be held liable for their actions. The following are some questions to ask prior to hiring on a company.

Some useful questions to ask an SEO include:

" Can you show me examples of your previous work and share some success stories?

" Do you follow the Google Webmaster Guidelines?

" Do you offer any online marketing services to complement your organic search business?

" What kind of results do you expect to see, and in what timeframe?

" What's your experience in my industry?

" How long have you been in business?

I asked these questions and found myself a new SEO company that practices legally and has been getting me so great exposure. In addition to the SEO services they are also providing me with PPC Management (pay per click management). Their PPC management services are awesome. Now my website is finally taking off, and legally, if I may boast. My sales figures are going up daily. And if any one tells you that SEO and PPC are unnecessary expenses for your business, don't listen, without these services your great grandchildren may be running the business before you see your sales improve.

promotional items

Even though it's still the middle of the summer things are getting pretty busy around here. Now that we know that Barrack Obama is the candidate for the Democratic party it is time for the student democrats to take action. Those of us who are still left around here attending classes and working are now ready to really jump in and get things moving. I think that with the nomination season ending at such a late point we are at a great advantage because we don't have to wait around for things to start heating up. Listening to any news program or political discussion it is just as exciting as it was months ago. Around here we are trying to get the office fully functioning to support his campaign and spread his message to those who are undecided or uninformed about the issues.

My job at the moment is the promotional end of the campaign. I have been communicating with a web site about various promotional items such as labeled pens, t-shirts, and mugs. All of the products we are buying are also environmentally friendly and will be sold or given away at various events we hold in the next few months. We don't have any events besides flyering during the summer but when fall rolls around we are going to hit the student population in force to get people on board. We would prefer that people vote for Barrack but the bigger more altruistic goal is to get everyone involved in the democratic process. The more people we can get involved now, there more will continue to vote for the rest of their lives. If we can get students to be interested and feel confident in the democratic process then our jobs have really been done well, no matter who they vote for come November.

Soon we will be up to our necks in students and debates and I for one am extremely excited for that time. Right now we just have to be patient and make sure we plan for a successful campaign and vote in November. I hope to turn this experience I am gaining in to something more later when I find the area of politics I want to jump in to

promotional products

Being in a sorority, I know a lot about getting the word out there. We are one of the biggest social sororities on campus and during recruitment time we are on our game. Every single one of use is decked out in our sororities letters, from t-shirts to hair ribbons to the bags we carry every day to class to flip flops with our colors. We know how to get attention and we use it to our best advantage. One way to get girls to join before recruitment is similar to a business's promotional products. We have business cards and customized fliers to get our names out. We have pens and paper with our colors on it and key chains of our letters. When I was a freshman trying to decide which sorority I wanted to join, I noticed how much the particular sorority I ended up joining showed their colors and 'advertised themselves'. It was a lot like business. It's sad to say, but the more stuff you see (and sorority clothing, ribbons and bags are so cute and addicting), the more you like it and feel like home. Seeing those letters all over campus made me think more and more that I wanted to be a part of that group. I had also heard that when we get initiated we get a ton of stuff with the letters on it too which made me even more excited. But the bottom line is, people like stuff. Whether is a promotional items like a pen from a bank or a mouse pad of a certain pop band or even a hoodie with a sororities letters, you feel like you belong when you have these things. Promotional products can really reel you in sometimes. From a free hand soap when you buy a 50 dollars worth at a bath store to green and white ribbons for a sorority, it's all the same. You belong to that and you feel like you should keep coming back, like you are one of them and are wanted in the future.

I know being in a sorority is sometimes looked down on. A lot of people don't understand what it is all about or just see the stereotypes, but it is a lot like the real world. We learn a lot, we network a lot and we represent a small business that, like any other business needs to promote itself, and we do it well.

flowers

Florists have to deal with many different customers for many different occasions and they must be tactful and professional. I would imagine dealing with one customer who is sending flowers for a birthday, with balloons and a teddy bear, to dealing with a grieving widow who just lost her husband and is trying to pick the perfect arrangement for her to say goodbye with, just seems like an amazingly difficult task. Switching modes from client to client must really have its challenges, and also meeting their needs for each occasion and on each person's individual budget. Choosing the right flowers and accessories to make the correct impression is probably most challenging of all.

I like to send flowers to people, accept when we have to send flowers for a funeral. Needless to say, I don't like to send flowers then, but I know that it is necessary and usually is very much appreciated by the person's family in their time of grieving. I know that the one time my brother and I sent a flower arrangement when a friend of my father's died suddenly, we had always called him uncle and so it just seemed fitting to send an arrangement with a banner that said beloved uncle on it. Well, apparently my aunt was very comforted by the fact that we thought enough to send such a loving arrangement to him, since we were actually not really related at all.

These are some of the reasons that florists are so important, they can provide comfort to a loved one in their time of need, and they can let someone know that we are thinking about them and that we care. I know most people have not really thought about the level of importance of this position in our society, however if you truly look at it there are flowers in many of the important events in our lives. We receive flowers when a child is born, when we get married, and when we die. Those are 3 pretty big transitions in which flowers play an integral part. In addition to that you will most likely receive flowers, when you get engaged, when you get ill, when you celebrate a special birthday or anniversary, and pretty much any time that anything extra special occurs.

Flowers and florists are an important part of our society and part of our culture.

debt

Credit card debt, personal loans, and medical expenses - you're struggling to stay afloat, but it feels like the tide is pulling you under. Whether an injury brought high medical bills or your diploma hasn't yet led to a job, being financially overextended hurts. Where do you turn for debt help? Credit counseling, avoidance, and even bankruptcy may seem like the answer at first. But are they right for you?

Think about where you want to be. Are these the things that you are looking for?

" Get out of debt and avoid bankruptcy

" See a large percentage of your debt negotiated away

" Reduce harassing calls from creditors

" Achieve financial independence and adopt a healthier financial lifestyle

If they are than debt consolidation may be right for you. Debt consolidation is the process of putting all your bills together into one low monthly payment that you can afford. By doing this, you will not only put a stop to those harassing phone calls, but you will also reduce the total amount due, lower your interest rate, and over time rebuild your credit so that you can avoid bankruptcy and eventually be able to purchase the house or car of your dreams.

There are some simple things that you can do to determine if this step is the right one for you.

1. Get copies of your credit report - there are 3 major companies and you must look at all 3 reports to get a full view of what others see when they pull your credit. You can't deal with what you don't know.

2. If you are at the point of receiving the harassing phone calls, then you are past the point of being ready to take this step, do it.

3. If you have more debt than the amount of one month's salary, then you are in over your head.

4. If you have so many cards and bills that just keeping track of payments and bill due dates have become difficult, well then debt consolidation is what you need.

If you feel that you are need of debt consolidation assistance, or if you are still not sure, then by all means go ahead and contact a debt consolidation company. They will sit down and go over everything with you and let you know what your options are and what the best path for you is. Debt consolidation will take some time, and you may want to get all your expenses together and all your income information together, so that when you sit down to talk with them, you will be able to see everything in black and white, or red as the case may be.

debt consolidation

This morning I went in to talk to my financial aid officer for what I thought was going to be the last time. I went in to confirm my financial aid status because my partner and I had our son three months ago. When I originally filed it we hadn't had him yet so I didn't list him. When I went in there today I wanted to just let her know that we needed to include him in my financial aid consideration. When I told her about that she said it was fine and that because of him I would get the maximum possible loans if I need them. I think I will be taking all of the aid I can get just to make sure everything works after school ends. While I was in the office she also brought up something I didn't think I would have to consider with a year of college left. She asked me if I had ever thought about personal ways to eliminate debt. I told her I hadn't and by the way she said it I think she may have been a bit surprised by my lack of financial attentiveness. I don't mind though I mean I have been so busy with school and having the baby that I don't have time to really think any farther ahead than the next work schedule I have to write up. So when she started running me through various sets of scenarios for my own debt consolidation I was not really surprised that I couldn't seem to fit in to any one quite yet. I think I walked out of that meeting a lot more confused about the future than when I walked in. I thought that these things sort of just worked themselves out when you went out in to the workforce and started paying off loans and all the other bills. I was quite wrong. Now I have a lot of thinking and considering to do about one more issue. Debt consolidators. Though I think that this is a little more pressing than some of the things that manage to steal my attention away from what is really important.

logo merchandise

All summer long our college is devoid of most of the student population. The only people left here are those who don't have money to leave, those who are taking classes, and those with jobs here. I am one of those trying to learn in this heat and I have never stayed here during the summer before t his year. One thing I have noticed about this observation is is that there is also another population that is a bit more transient and not quite as stable as the other three.

All summer long our school hosts kids sports camps and various conferences. Now that I have looked into it I realize that there are camps every single week for every sports imaginable and there is also a conference every week. That is why when I walk around this summer I see many more high school kids than usual and every adult it seems is dressed to impress. After discovering the schedule of these types of events I decided to try some of them out just for fun.

The sports camps offered here are a bit too expensive and I am too old, but the trade shows and job fairs are perfect. I went to my first trade show last week at the sports stadium. I was dressed like I normally am so that these recruiters would try to get to me first; they like students the best. I walked around that hall for hours talking to people about various jobs in electronics and collecting the promotional gifts. I think I must have gotten promotional products from every single booth. Next time I think I will bring a shopping cart for all for the tradeshow giveaway items. Now my wardrobe is stocked full of logo merchandise of companies I will never work for.

While I was there I tried not to give off too much information because if they were to talk technical at all I would have no idea what they were talking about. I am a liberal arts major who has never even seen the inside of his computer let alone a technology expert.

novelties

Having a really cool party takes a lot of planning. I have found that themed parties are the best because it gives you a base to start with. Then you can find items that coincide with your theme and it can be a real blast rounding up all the items. Many people shop at party stores, but many times there items are way too pricey than items you can pick up at a novelty store for much less. Novelties make neat party favors and decorations because they are different from anyone else's stuff. When ever I have a party I like to throw in some bizarre balloons and light up items for a festive and crazy appearance. People seem to really like the idea of the strange and unusual items I display at my parties, and quite honestly, I have gotten requests from people I barely know to invite them to my next bash.

It has really gotten out of control and I couldn't really understand what the big fuss was about, I just decorate with the things I really like and try to make the party as much fun as possible. Then one day I got invited to a party by a guy in one of my classes. Well, I went with a buddy of mine, and quite honestly it was boring. All the regular old boring party decorations and nothing to do but listen to music, talk and eat. I was a little confused as to why things just never picked up. Don't get me wrong, there were a lot of people there and even some hot girls, but the party just seemed to fizzle.

I thought to myself, this would never happen at one of my parties. No wonder everyone is dying to be invited to one of my theme parties. I usually have people dress bizarrely and I try to come up with fun activities that get people interacting with each other. I always have the karaoke machine set up; just in case things fizzle you can always find at least one person who thinks that they are a singer once they have a few beers. Then they provide the entertainment for me. I guess throwing a really good party is really an art, and judging by what I have seen not too many people have mastered it in the way that I have.

credit report

Recently I have been looking into managing my credit better, and these are some of the tips that I found online that I thought were the most helpful:

How do you know if you have a credit card debt problem?

You know if you have a credit card problem if you owe more than you can pay off in sixty days. That's too much debt to have on a credit card. And if you have trouble paying your credit card bills, you have a problem. If you use your credit cards out of need instead of convenience, you have a problem.

What are the three most important tips to managing credit card debt?

1. If you can't afford to pay cash, don't charge it. Credit cards are primarily for convenience, not a way to finance your life.

2. Never charge more than you can pay off in a sixty day period.

3. Never be late. You signed a contract with your credit card company that you would pay on time. If you break that contract, your interest rate can explode. It's the interest that will bite you in the butt in the long run.

What are some important tricks to staying out of debt?

Simply paying down your credit card debt is not enough to enhance your credit rating in the eyes of banks and lenders. You must stay debt-free in order to improve your credit history and qualify for better loan interest rates and deals in the future.

" Close credit card accounts that you will no longer be using. Simply cutting up the cards and not using them does not close the account and only makes fraud easier.

" Pay for most items with cash. If you don't use the credit cards at all, you won't risk getting back into debt.

" Pay credit card bills off in their entirety. Leaving balances to roll over to following months only adds interest payments to already hefty bills, making the balance even higher the next month.

" Examine your monthly statements thoroughly to detect signs of unauthorized use and fraudulent charges immediately. The sooner you are able to put a stop to such activity, the better your chances of recovering from the incident.

In short be sure to get a copy of your credit report so you can keep an eye on your debt. If you have recently been declined for a card, you can get a free credit report. Then if you think that you are in trouble take steps now toward credit repair before things get out of control. Then you will not need to worry about credit repair

matchmaking site

We are of a very interesting generation that people are going to look back on and see where some things began and others came to an end. Today we can look back on other generations and see what they had to go through and think of of what it must have been like to grow up in such a climate or during such events. In the last hundred years we have seen many wars and many changes. We have seen the harnessing of flight and the energy of the atom. All of these things fell before the emergence of my generation and exist as these amazing stories that happened long ago before our parents were born. What has happened in our generation that we take as something normal and plain is would have seemed insane to our ancestors living those wild stories of the turn of the century.

The advances in technology, especially the internet, have changed the way we live our lives and really exists as the biggest development in our lives that will be our generation's milestone. We have all grown up from being very young to where we are today as the internet has developed along side of us. The world of the web has really gone from being this silly little utility we used as kids to practice numbers in school to encompassing all of our lives. The internet has quickly been overtaking all aspects of life from entertainment all the way through dating. The phenomenon of the matchmaking site is actually something that deserves a little bit of attention. This is a big part of what we have come to feel as part of our zeitgeist. Now in our time we have seen the emergence of this whole other world where business happens and where singles can look at personals and meet the people of their dreams in a matter of days for relatively cheap. Our lives have grown along side this technology and will continue to do so in an ever deepening relationship that depends upon our willingness to submit to impressionability. Wherever it goes from here we can all agree that we will look back and tell our grandchildren that we were there when the world went digital.
