I hate it when people quote Kennedy by saying, “Ask what you can do for your country”—as though a person’s life is only 
valuable insofar as it can be exploited by the state, as though a person’s life is not an ends within itself, but an 
expedient to the will of the state.  It amounts to the subjugation of individuality, of liberty, and of life itself.
