Teaching |
8/2004 – Present BCPS – Woodlawn High School Baltimore, MD
I teach at a comprehensive high school with a seven period day. (2005-2006) Currently, I teach, one section of GT chemistry, and four sections of standard chemistry. I have students in all four grades within these classes as well as IEP children with need for modification. (2004-2005) I taught five section of standard level earth science on a team, meaning they all have the same core subject teachers, of repeating ninth grade students. One of my sections was an inclusion class that requires modified time allotments and assignments.

8/2002 – 6/2003 AACPS – Chesapeake High School Pasadena, MD
I taught at a comprehensive high school, with a four period day, split semester schedule. First semester, I taught three sections of general chemistry. During the second semester, I taught two sections of general chemistry and a cooperatively taught section of Earth Space Systems Science (ESSS).
Within the chemistry classes, the main modifications needed were to accommodate different learning styles during an 86-minute period. The ESSS class required more specific modifications such as extended time and more extensive explanations due to 14 of the 19 students having an IEP. |

Student Interning |
1/28/2002 – 5/16/02 BCPS – Pikesville High School Pikesville, MD Student Intern
When my placement started, my cooperating teacher had five chemistry classes, three GT and two standard. I began my teaching with the standard level. Two weeks later, two of my classes switched, due to a departmental resignation. From there, I picked up a standard and an honors Earth Science class.
Within each course, there were special modifications. Period 1 was my most homogeneous class, ability wise. In period 2 and period 4, I had three students and one student, respectively that were registered for the honors level. These students participated in all of the regular class notes and labs. Their modifications came in the form of altered problems, different questions on tests, graded classwork and a moderately altered grading scale.
In Earth science, each class had special education students. In honors, the majority of the modifications came in the form of extra time or fewer essays on a test. In standard, there were many modifications to classwork and a slightly different grading scale.

Work Experience |
Summer 2001 Howard County Department of Recreation and Parks – Teen ‘Scapes: Mayfield Woods Site Leader
As a leader, I was responsible, with five of other leaders, to plan and supervise activities as well as participate in those activities with the campers. I was also required to help supervise students when off site, on field trips. While on field trips, all Teen ‘Scapes sites participated. I was then responsible for my campers, in addition to monitoring campers from other sites that chose activities with my campers.
Summer 1999 & 2000 Johns Hopkins University – Center for Talented Youth Program Assistant & Resident Assistant
Program Assistant (1999): As a program assistant, I was responsible, with a team of other PAs, to plan and supervise activities. I was also responsible to escort students to and from class, to and from their drop-offs and pick-up and while they were not in class.
Resident Assistant (2000): This camp was very unique in the fact that over the course of a three-week program, the students spent half of the time ‘land-based’ and half of the time ‘sea-based.’ For the land-based portion, I was responsible to take a specific group of students to and from their classes and the USCG Cutter Taney in the Baltimore, Inner Harbor. During activity time, meals and lights out, each RA was responsible for the students in their immediate vicinity. While sea-based, I worked with the crew of a boat as we sailed, on a Skipjack, or motored, on a buy boat, around the Chesapeake Bay. As part of the crew, I worked on ship related details, such as meal prep and duties, and aided the class instructors. I was also responsible for the students while they were in camp at night (duties, activities, sleeping arrangements).
Winter 1999 & 2000 BCPS Substitute Teacher Owings Mills High School Substitute Teacher
