This website is intended to provide information concerning current practices in wetland mitigation creation, assessment, and policies. About 21,000 acres of natural wetlands in the US are lost annually under section 404 of the Clean Water Act (Kihslinger, 2008). Both permitted and non-permitted wetland losses have culminated in a net >50% reduction of natural wetlands in the US (US EPA).
