Performance Art includes productions such as happenings and the Fluxes movement, which introduced time as an intergal element of their artwork, movements, gestures and sound, replaced by physical objects. The only evidence remaining after these events is the documentary photographs taken at the time of thier performance. The informal and spontaneous nature of much of this work, which often uses the body as the primary material, took art outside of the museums and traditional galleries. Many of the mueseums did eventually commission performances, which took away the air of radicalism.
