Education at a Year-Round School:
A research paper submitted as a partial requirement for ISTC 201 Using Information Effectively in Education.

ABSTRACT

Year-round schooling has become a topic of debate and is a current concern in education. Students are continuing to fall behind in school and not receive the appropriate help. School officials are moving quickly to find ways to improve their school and students academic achievement level. Year-round schooling is the answer to the ailments of the failing school. Overcrowding, teacher burnout, retention rate, low-poverty and English as a Second Language students are all issues that can be fixed within a year-round school. Overcrowding is solved by setting the school into a multi-track schedule and frequent short breaks help the teachers feel rested. Retention rates improve by keeping the students breaks no longer than one month. Students who are low-poverty or English as a Second Language soar in year-round schools because of the additional remediation provided. These and many other issues are solved by implementing a year-round schedule.
