Locating Library Resources for Research Projects

Reference books, multi-media resources, and reference materials can be located using the Cook Library webpage.  Answer the following questions that pertain to locating resources:

    1.    What is the URL of the Cook Library home page?

    2.    What is the name of the catalog that allows you to search all of the colleges and universities associated with the University of Maryland?

3.    If you wanted to find a technical definition for educational terms, such as "full inclusion," or “class size,” where might you look?

In one of the subject oriented encyclopedias.

4.    Where can you look to find terms that might be similar or associated with your educational topic?

In the catalogue, they give you words that are related to your topic when you type in a search.

5.    On which floor of Cook Library are materials located (for circulation) that relate to educational topics?

1.      Following the librarian's directions, perform a simple search using the topic as the keyword.  How many "hits" (results) did you get (remember, you will be locating books or other media – not journals or magazine articles – in this search)?

 The student needs to click on the “Request” button; they would then be prompted to fill out their student barcode and last name.  The book would then be mailed to Towson University for pick-up at the circulation desk.
