My name is Alyssa Vigdor and I am from Manalapan, New Jersey. I hope to teach younger students when I eventually enter the education field. Ideally, I would love to teach any grade between kindergarten and third grade. I was motivated to enter the education field because I love working with children. Teachers have a very rewarding job and there is never a dull moment! I can not wait until I have my own class and I am able to watch the children learn. Children have the capacity to learn so much, it is amazing.
I hope to accomplish many things as a teacher, but most importantly I want to make learning fun. School today isn’t what it used to be with The No Child Left Behind Act, and standardized testing. Fun and creativity in the classroom is being replaced with test preparation. I hope to make my classroom as fun as possible. I believe that when students are having fun, that is when they are learning most effectively and will retain the most knowledge. If children look forward to going to school, it is most beneficial for both the students and the teacher.
In order to make the classroom a fun place, technology tools are one thing that could be implemented. They create hands on learning that is fun for the student. We are currently living in a world of technology and when my students leave the classroom, they ultimately will be working with technology somehow. Therefore, why not incorporate it in the classroom, it is most practical. Education is currently undergoing a huge reform, technology is working its way into the classroom and I support this change.
