The Office of Technology Services provides each student with a free account on Tiger, the student computing system. A student's Tiger account includes:

  • Web-based e-mail service
  • dial-up Internet access
  • Web site hosting
  • general file storage space

Student Computing Services (SCS) is the unit of OTS that directly supports student use of technology. SCS is a triad of integrated services offered in a single, convenient location: Cook Library, Room 35.

  • The SCS Computer Lab offers computer hardware, software, and work space to all students—regardless of major—on a walk-in basis. Although configured to support independent work, the Lab is staffed by a team of friendly students capable of orienting users to lab operations and answering general questions.
     

  • The SCS Service Desk provides technical support and troubleshooting assistance to students experiencing problems with their accounts or students who otherwise seek advice on how to best accomplish particular computing tasks. The Service Desk offers e-mail (scs@towson.edu), telephone (410-704-5151), and walk-in (CK-35) support.
     

  • The SCS Learning Center compliments the Lab and Service Desk  by offering training and consulting services in conjunction with OTS Training. A large catalog of self-help publications are available on the Web and free workshops cover most of the standard applications and systems used on campus. For students whose needs exceed the workshops solution, SCS offers individualized consulting upon request.
