Information on this page lists the details with regards to the use of tiger and triton for COSC students after the hardware upgrade on October 3rd, 2001. A graphic representation of the environment can be seen here.

• COSC students will have 2 web directories. File in WWW are served by Tiger and files in COSCWWW are served by Triton.
• Triton web servers will not have Front Page support but will have PHP
• Student Passwords must be reset via the web (https://wwwnew.towson.edu/ps_pw/sPassword.asp).
• The Oracle client is installed Triton
• The old COSC Unix server (Sun Microsystems Sun Fire 280R) has been renamed "orion" and provides services for oracle databases.
• Bash is the default command shell for the new Solaris environment and any executable or object binaries residing on the new Sun systems will need to be recompiled.
• Disk quota for students is 100MB for storage, and 20 MB for e-mail. The disk space lives on Tiger but is available to Triton via NFS
• All web services that are currently available to Tiger student users are also available to COSC student users (Webfiles, Account Management, etc. see http://tiger.towson.edu)
• All COSC students can obtain an Oracle account whose username matches their Tiger and Triton username. To obtain your oracle account please contact the helpcenter.
